How many of you would say that Alabama overachieved this year?

That opener against Miami was clearly smoke and mirrors. The Florida game should have been a warning to us all but it wasn't until after the Texas A&M game and the subsequent conference games that we realized this team just wasn't as dominant as they had been in years past. Even though we came out with the W, we could have just as easily lost to Florida, LSU, and Auburn if one or two things went differently. We couldn't muster the strength of discipline to put Arkansas completely away and we didn't pull away from Tennessee until the fourth quarter. The only games where we actually looked like our dominant selves were Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
I think we are a young team with a lot of raw talent that lacks substantial leadership on the field. It can't be just Bryce Young and Will Anderson, two underclassmen, leading the respective units. There has to be leadership in every position group and I just don't see that yet. Maybe it'll be there next year but what we have this year is what we're going to get.

I think we achieve what we were suppose to achieve.
I don't think that it's Natty or bust every year.

We're about where I thought we'd be at the moment. If we somehow win the next 3 games I will definitely say we overachieved. But pre-season I thought we'd win the West and play in Atlanta, and a good chance to make the playoffs.
Obviously those expectations went on a roller coaster ride this season with how we played.

Let's be honest, just about everyone of us had this team at 11-1 or 12-0 before the start of the season. However, no one had any idea that in order to get there we'd come within a hair's breadth of being 8-4 in the process had a few bounces of the football gone against us.

This is the definition of a rebuilding year. Look at how many productive rookies we have in the NFL this year. Not to mention, replacing a lot of the staff. I put us at 10-2 for the regular season and missing the SECCG before the season started. We overachieved

I wouldn't necessarily say we have overachieved so much as we have had a much different team than we are accustomed to having. We aren't bad. Just wildly inconsistent. Both the offense and defense have ranged anywhere from elite to gasoline fueled dumpster fire at varying points throughout the season, often reaching both of those extremes in the same game. The only real constants are that Bryce and Will are both monsters and the OL sucks. Everything else is all over the place.

I had us going 11-1 or 10-2 (losing 1-2 of A&M, Ole Miss, Auburn), going to Atlanta and losing to Georgia.
I didn't quite expect us to be this sort of team, but results wise it's pretty much in line.

Imo, we've underachieved; we really should've beaten A&M. I expected our weaker positions, OL, WR & DBs, to have a bumpy ride early but improve significantly during the season.

I believe Saban kinda eluded in fall practice that this team had a ways to go compared to the 20 team.
Injuries took its toll in the long run again. Oline never seemed to jell
But the upside is that this team has been in some dog fights. And as bad as Bama played Saturday they found away to win. The one good thing about this season that they’ve learned, overcoming adversity. It’s what Saban has always preached to his teams. It’s his pet peeve.

Without the outstanding play of #9 this bunch is 7-5 or 6-6.

Met expectations. I thought they would go 11-1 and they did.

Record-wise, we're right where I expected. But, I didn't expect to baffled about what this team is every week.

Also think the record is about where I expected; maybe even over achieving with all that was lost.
I think what stung during the season was the struggling with teams that were good on paper before the season, but had back up QBs or poor records when we played/struggled.
In the end though, today, I'm really enjoying the season's results and any wins from here on are sensational. Saban is so happy lately because he knows this team could have caught a few more losses.

I think what bothers most fans isn't the results, it's the flashes of vintage Bama that is smattered in amongst long stretches of some really bad play. These kids have really scrapped and fought and overachieved as far as the big picture is concerned. But they have underachieved at times and at positions where you wonder what the hell happened. The guys have managed an 11-1 season, another trip to Atlanta and control their own destiny today; you have to be proud of them for that. Especially when you consider some of the hires made to coach them have been absolute dumpster fires at their position. With the right coaches, this SECCG is the Clash of the Titans instead of David vs. Goliath.

After the LSU game, I felt we didn't have what needed (be it leadership and/or experience) to win it all this year. Still possible, but highly unlikely.
I recalculated my hopes and we have achieved them. Another 10 win season and a win over the boogers. Anything from here on out, is gravy.

I thought the rankings and loft expectations were a bit too much at the beginning of the year. Alabama was breaking in a new QB. I wasn't sold on our defense, OLine, or WRs. I never considered Metchie an explosive type of WR on the edge. I knew if Slade Bolden was a starter in the slot, it would be a huge, huge downgrade from over the past four years. BRob was never going to be another Najee Harris or Josh Jacobs. I knew with a new OC and new OLine coach there would be struggles. It takes at least the second year for an OC to fully get an offense implemented where everyone is on the same page with terminology, schemes, etc.
Yeah this team has played hard and I've accepted them for what they are and appreciate what they've accomplished. After all, it's not like they are 5-5 following a championship season.
It's impossible to expect a totally dominant team in every phase every singe year and I'm happy that we are at least still strongly in the race with a young team.

If I could have somehow peeked into the future, before the season began, and read the box scores, I would say that we underachieved.
After watching the team all year; they overachieved. With the OL issues, injuries and key leaders moving on to the NFL. This team has kept grinding and managed to win a lot of games.
This hasn’t been my favorite Bama team, but give them some credit for how they kept winning regardless of their shortcomings.
