Only one key to beating Bama

I went back and watched the Bama-Razorback and one thing really stood out: Bama is one dimensional on offense. Arkansas shut down the run early and Bama completely abandoned it. Arky was having success defending the pass AS LONG AS BRYCE YOUNG WAS PRESSURED. When he was pressured his passes became wild and erratic and his decision making under pressure lead him to hold on to the ball too long and he took a sack. On the flip side of that, when Arky only rushed 3, he wasn't pressured and he was deadly. If we can get pressure on him and make him uncomfortable in the pocket, we will win.

Totally agree. We were really disrupting up Tua in the 2018 SEC championship before he got hurt. Then of course Jalen came in and sealed the comeback.

I think the "key" to beating Bama this year is nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

We do what we do how we do it, and make them stop it. Offense and defense. Break those bitches in half. And if they can stop it, then they deserve to win.

This is where Adam Anderson would come in handy with his sub 4.5 speed at 235 lbs.

Even against average run defenses, Bama has consistently struggled with the ground game this year. In their game where they scored 20 on LSU, they had 6 total rushing yards.

If LSU could hold them to 6, there’s no reason our front should not be able to keep Bama’s ground game shut down.

Control their run with mostly even numbers so we can keep our safeties deep. They can do a lot of things but are most dangerous when their offense can hit deep passes. If we can take that away via 2 safeties up top because they don’t have to come down in run support often, I like our chances

Honestly, I feel like we should focus on stopping the pass since it’s going to be there strength,

Guarantee you that they’ve studied the TN game.

Agreed. Their O line is a liability. Put pressure on Young all game and trust our secondary to keep big plays from happening. Five plus sacks and we win the game going away.

Worried about the Jameson kid against our nickelback. Brini and Smith will have their hands full.

If you put Smith in that spot then you're trusting Jackson to help on the deep ball against the other WR.

Bottom line is being able to get pressure without rushing too many guys.

I think it will be like tennessee where we focus on the run first and them move outward as we feel we are controlling the ground (and they are less inclined to continuously go there).

That’s what I like about Lanning and crew. They make the necessary adjustments when needed

Perhaps. But not seen a team out there be very successful at that this year. They have some elite receivers who always seem to hit big plays in the slant and home run game.

Think we will give up points through the air. But I’m totally fine if Young gets a couple of TDs on big plays. If he gets 2-3 TDs… heck, even 4… I like our chances to run up way more points on their porous defense.

My thoughts also… think we may need to play 2 deep often.

My biggest concern is the short-to-middle center of the field. That seems to be a weakness in our defense and Alabama pounds the slant routes to that spot.

As I mentioned in a previous thread, I think this whole game comes down to our D line versus their O line. If Young is running for his life most of the afternoon, I like the dawgs by several possessions in this one.

Well, considering his rant last night, Saban is definitely nervous. That was as much to fire up his players and it was to make a point to the media and fans.

He’s seen plenty of tape of Georgia and knows he isn’t going to win this time. He’s trying to get ahead of the loss so the fans won’t take it so hard.

This has been true all year, every game , everyone Bama has looked beatable or been beaten. Bryce young got pressured. And it’s not really that hard..it’s jus half the teams in their schedule can’t generate pressure.. if I’m Kirby I play the receivers tight and challenge everything.. if you get a PI , so the hell what as long as it’s not a score.. let them get the 15 and get another chance to hit BY, he will rattle!
