Chad motherfrickIN MORRIS (sorry Rev) was fired from his post as the worst head coach of all time. Kanye West once said "Chad Morris is the worst Razorback coach of all time, OF ALL TIME!"
Barry Lunney then took over and we suddenly looked like an actual football team, although it was ugly.
Now look at how far we've come in 2 short years. We're 6-3 and ranked 25th in the actual playoff poll, we dominated Texas and the Aggies who would later go on to beat Bama. We nearly beat Ole Miss, but later beat Mississippi State.
We're favored against perennial power LSU for the Boot, and we're going bowling for the first time since 2016 (technically since last year but covid cancelled that, either way Pittman got us there).
Perspective is important, and for the first time since Petrino, we should be proud of the Razorbacks. We look fricking awesome (sorry again Rev) and the team plays with every bit of scrap and pride of the State they represent.
I love Sam Pittman and I'm happy he's our head coach, nobody else could've gotten the best out of this roster like he has. He's still behind the 8-ball as far as what he was left with, but he's quickly fixing it.
The future is bright for the Razorbacks for the first time since Petrino went into the ditch

What Pittman and his staff have done, with essentially the same roster, is nothing short of a miracle job.

This also proves what I said after Bielemas first year. A good coach will have success almost immediately. It doesn’t take 5 years to recognize whether a guy can lead a team or not.

No excuse for Bert to be winless in the SEC his first year. He inherited better talent than Petrino did his first year.

We've obviously progressed a ton but this tweet could also just show how different 2019 LSU was compared to 2021 LSU. Still no slight to Pittman and co. because Arkansas is obviously a completely different team now.

I was out from the moment he was announced. I thought he is a run first person, we don’t get the linemen to over power these quick defensive lines. We were never going to out Alabama, Alabama.
I believe as far as offense goes we need a scheme guy. That’s why I was in on Petrino and now Briles.

Might have been a blessing. We probably don't fire Long with Bert if that raise doesn't happen and he would have continued to devastate our programs. HY has delivered on both his big hires. Imagine who JL would have hired instead of Muss and Pitt.

We can get the linemen but Petrino and Bert never did for a period of time. Sam is much better than those two.

I think Long was doing some shady stuff and his superiors used the raise as an excuse for the firing.

Hunter has been successful elevating just about every sport at Arkansas. shite canning (sorry Rev!) Jeff Long and hiring Hunter Yurachek may be the best thing to happen to Arkansas athletics since Broyles realized the SWC was about to collapse and managed to get us into the SEC.
Stacy Lewis was evidently the first person on the AD search committee to push hard for HY and Lance Harter went all in on Yurachek pretty quickly. I didn't think I'd ever say God bless a search committee, but God bless that search committee because they did their job.

That echoes my beliefs as well. You can't out-Alabama, out-LSU, and the other similar SEC schools to those two mentioned that have much better recruiting bases.
We need coaches that can outscheme other schools with the talent that we are able to get. That's why Petrino (pre motorcycle) was a perfect fit here. He was a dick head, but he was our dick head.
Pittman realizes that which is why he hired someone like Briles. I whole heartedly believe that brighter days are on the horizon.
I forgot who said it, but someone said that when Coach Pittman got the job he inherited a trip to hell and he was wearing a pair of gasoline underwear. That's about right. It's imperative that we give him time. He'll get our roster to where we can compete and have a chance to win week in and week out.
I also believe that Odom will do fine. I mean, holy damn hell, look at the talent on D. Man, we have walk ons, 2 stars, with an occasional 3 star sprinkled into the mix. It's hard to not get your teeth kicked in when playing in the SEC with that mix of talent.
Things will be good again.

I hate long. I wish him nothing but failure in life. That mother fricker (I guess I should say "sorry Rev") didn't give a flying frick (sorry Rev) about competing and winning in athletics.
Yurachek actually does all that he can to fricking (sorry Rev) support our coaches in helping them win. DVH all but called long a shite horn earlier this year on an interview with The Buzz boys and glowed about Hunter and how much support he gets from him. DVH said you'd have to schedule a time to speak with long and it would be weeks before he could get in to speak with him. I mean, what in the actual blue hell fricking shite is that?
I should work on my cussing, but a co-worker told me that people who cuss are less stressed than people who hold back their true feelings. That's all I needed to hear to continue on with my foul mouthed self
tl;dr summation: frick jeff long, he's a fricking POS.

"Sorry Rev" trending or what?
Now, to the topic. Yep, I love Pittman. He has the perfect personality to handle obtuse fans, and fights hard for his team, coaches, well, hires well, and has expectations for his players.
They love him as well. It feels awesome getting respectable again so soon. Chard was a tard (Sorry rev?) and so thankful he is gone.
But one thing Pittman has that nobody has had since Nutt (Hated saying that, as I am not a fan) He has passion for Arkansas and gets us.

This x infinity.
I often jokingly refer to that series of events as a “coup” against Long waged by the boosters, but it needed to happen.
While that booster cadre got absolutely pantsed by Malzahn and ultimately hired the worst coach in the history of SEC football, the one thing they did do right was mobilizing against Long and forcing him out. Up to that point Long had consolidated power, cemented his position by getting himself a vice chancellor position, alienated the good coaches he had (DVH), regionalized the program and deprioritized winning. Hell, he followed the exact same blueprint at Kansas until he was ironically brought down by a sex scandal involving a football coach.
While our boosters did it for the wrong reasons (to hire Malzahn), it worked out in a Machiavellian way.
A damn (sorry Rev) broken clock is right twice a day.

I don't think it is as cut and dry that Long was fired because of Bert. I think he was probably embezzling money from the school for himself. His superiors didn't want another Petrino 2.0 scandal on the news again. So they fired him, told him to keep the money and not say a word. The football program declining didn't help but I believe it wasn't the root problem that he was fired. An AD really has to do something bad to be fired and it doesn't necessarily have to be athletics.

Neither do I. It was a confluence of things, and Bert/Malzahn was window dressing.

Eh, I don’t buy that. Our boosters really disliked Long. If they wanted him pinched for embezzlement from a public institution they would have.
I do think there were financial irregularities with the stadium expansion and some Enron accounting tricks used to cover up the cost overruns, and it was the wedge the boosters needed and used to force Steinmetz’s hand.
Gearhart (allegedly) stepped down for a similar reason in 2015, as the year before two former vice chancellors said they were fall guys for Gearhart’s cover up of a $4M+ shortfall in a division. There was an audit that basically said the conduct was unethical but not criminal. I figure similar behaviors were occurring under Long, whether learned or innate, and that’s what they got him on.
