The pirate is pissed!

Mike Leach and the Mississippi State Bulldogs had plenty of chances to take down Arkansas on Saturday in Fayetteville.
However, field goal woes plagued the Bulldogs all night. Brandon Ruiz missed both of his tries. Then, with the chance to send the game to overtime, Nolan McCord missed his only kick of the night.
That prompted Leach, after the 31-28 loss, to call for an open tryout for kickers on Mississippi State’s campus this coming week:

I don’t really blame him. Players need to do their fricking job.

He should get Ole Miss’ kicker, Lane doesn’t need one anyway.

The last kick wasn't the kickers fault. Bad snap.
I understand the other kicker missed 2 fgs but don't pull him and put a new kicker in to tie the game.

It isn't just this game. We have lost by a FG or less in 3 games now where multiple FGs were missed

Didn’t he have an open tryout at tech once? I seem to remember this
Leach hates kickers I guess

Me and my crew watching the game all expected the kicker to miss the last attempt. Beyond any snap/hold issues, we thought the situation was too big for the young guy fresh off the bench.

Yeah, he does that and it is a slow ride down for Miss State. Any "good" coach would not even say such a thing.

Hopefully he’ll find a kicker in Lubbock next year.

3 of our 4 losses were due to kickers. 3 losses by 3 or less points. Could be sitting at 8-1 with a kicker that could make a 30 yard FG.
I have no problem with him throwing the kickers under the bus.

Just when I thought I knew what a coaches job was.

Maybe Leach will go lock him in a shed like he did at TX Tech...

Rip them in the locker room, cut them if you must but I don’t like coaches humiliating players in the media. I can promise you neither kicker wants to suck and lose the game for their team.

This is a bunch of snowflake BS. This is the third game lost due to missed FGs and he waited until the third time to call anyone out. Those mental midgets have one job to do....kick it through the uprights. Both of those guys are on scholarship.
Leach has one motto: do your job.
They should be humiliated. They should have been made to hitchhike home. If accountability is too much pressure for them, maybe they can go get a job working for the DNC or something.

I have no problem with him calling out the kickers. We have lost multiple games because of them. Mullen never had a scholarship kicker but he always had solid ones. They are not impossible to find.

Missouri: will rent kicker for high star recruits. A 4 star nets one successful field goal. 3 stars are worth extra points. Our 5 star special nets you an entire game of successful kicks.

I wouldn’t either if I was a MSU fan but I always feel a little bad for kickers- it just seems like the loneliest job on the team and when they fail all eyes are on them.

I don't understand why more parents aren't trying to start their kids out being a kicker from an early age. Seems like a failsafe way to pull a Tua's dad move with much less risk.

That’s the kicker that missed kicks in the Memphis game. Ruiz was hurt that game.
LSU game too.

The missed FGs were 39, 40 and 44 yards.
