I went back and watched it today and something struck me I had not thought of nor have I heard it commented on. It was really windy. There were the 2 missed field goals and even the balls that made it through the uprights were pushed by the wind. Both of Stet's long passes that fell short looked like they hung up and drifted left. Even his long TD pass required the receiver to chase it hard left to field it. Another thing I hadn't noticed is that when Kirby was interviewed at half-time headed into the locker room he made note of how much the wind was affecting the passes. That was only on the radio broadcast interview. I watched the game on TV Saturday, and I don't even recall the wind being mentioned. All that to say this; Stet didn't suddenly become wildly inaccurate after 6 weeks of being near perfect. The wind definitely had a major impact on his long balls, as Kirby noted, and the SECCG will be played inside.

I agree to an extent.. that first long pass was dumb, plain and simple (double coverage), but it was into the wind, and it lead to two minutes of greatness for the defense. The second he should have thrown outside to the pylon, leave it to where only the UGA player could have caught it. If the wind was a issue on the second pass, it would have pushed it to the pylon. I personally thought Stetson played a bad game, but that’s okay, UGA won! At some point they are going to need a QB to win a game. It might be the SECCG, it might not be until the playoffs.. Stetson as much as I love him, and what he stands for, JT is better!

Good point. The wind could very well have been a factor in those deep passes.

You're right. I remember looking at the weather forecast Saturday morning and it called for 9 to 13 mph winds from west to east all game long.

Players down on the field barely feel the wind. But in a stadium like that the wind actually swirls. Some passes or FGs are pushed right, and the next one may be pushed left. The QB or kicker can't "see" the wind until the ball is in the air.

Actually, the first one looked like a few things went wrong. The TE ran an out and up and Bennett released it like the TE was going to run a fade or 9type route. Also, #7 kinda ran himself into the play. That is why 2 people were there on D. Having 2 guys in the same area tells me that there was some miscommunication on who was doing what. Hard to say whose fault it was, but wind could have been a factor, but it wasn’t the primary factor. The second one may have got caught in the wind, but the QB needs to compensate. My take, the wind makes it harder to throw, but does not take culpability off the QB for the throw.

That's where JT's velocity comes into play. Apparently Kirby is too dum-dum to check the weather report. Or maybe he uses Weather.com instead of Sailflow app.

J'ville's almost always windy. Stet made one unadvised throw, it happens to the best. Aaron Murray was bad about overthrowing, Stet has a penchant to underthrown some. Overall I'm glad he's our QB though. He has some good wheels and runs an efficient offense. I'll also be glad when JT can take some snaps.

The wind has nothing to
Do with Stetson not having a
Arm
To deliver . Love the kids moxy and we’re winning but a deep
Ball QB he is not

You should watch some UGA games this year.

Anyway for anyone interested, this is where Stetson is according to Saturday Down South:

quote:

He leads the SEC and ranks in the top 5 nationally in yards per attempt (11.5) and overall efficiency (193.9) among QBs with at least 100 attempts. A little more than 20% of his attempts have gained 20+ yards, the best rate in the conference, by far. At no point has he looked like a liability.

Not bad for a guy who supposedly "can't throw the long ball". Anyway, like I said, a great many of you would rather be right and lose than be wrong and win. Personally I don't know who is the best quarterback will be when it's all said and done, but there's no arguing who the best quarterback is so far, and I wish him all the best.

Everyone wants to win. Everyone has seen him play against Alabama. And everyone knows what happened last year when he played against Alabama. And everyone knows he will have to play against Alabama again. It’s not as complicated as most here think it is. Can we win against Alabama with Stetson or JT? Both are maybes. Which one gives us a better chance? That’s on Kirby. The fan base is split on it. I want whoever Kirby thinks is better and let’s roll. But a certain few won’t let their love for stetson be denied.

Alabama was better on both sides of the ball last year and UGA is definitely better on defense this year. Likely better on offense too. Also, Stetson has a lot more experience and reps in this offense. Do you consider any of these as facts?

If it was windy, they were even worse decisions tbh.

It was easily 10mph sustained, with gusts 15-20..

When I watched the replay the thing that stuck out to me was how our o line allowed pressure to get after Stetson on a bunch of our passing plays. We all joke about Grantham but one thing he is very good at is dialing up pressure and more times than not Stet didn’t have a lot of time in the pocket.

Sure his picks were bad throws which was on him…but in a lot of those plays he had a rusher coming after him and had to hurry or roll out.

You started the season shitting on Stet. Then went that didn’t go as fashionably as you hoped, you flip flopped and posted a Stetson love letter thread formally announcing your support.

Now you’ve flipped again and claim to be the righteous moderate who just wants whoever Kirby chooses and act you’re being victimized by Stet fanatics.

It’s been hilarious to watch. Please keep checking in to let us now which way your rudderless ship is pointed next

Last years Alabama does not equal this years Alabama. Not many teams had great success against 2020 Bama that I recall.

Did Stetson give up 41 PTS? He needs to work on his tackling and covering receivers in space.

The weather forecast was showing it to be expected Wind: 5-7 MPH, which is not out the norm. Was it harder? I can't find the exact information only "expected".

Either way, both throws were ill advised. Particularly the first INT that was intercepted and the DB tried to bring it out of the end zone. There just wasn't a play. It was a horrible decision, wind or no wind.

He needs to make better decisions and throw the ball away when there is no play.

Ironically it was also that INT that opened the floodgates, so it worked out great for us. We may not be so lucky against Alabama, OSU or most other teams.
