Nice to see Luke have a solid inning. That breaking ball to get the strikeout was filthy.

Thought that was great work from Snit managing his appearance, brought him back for one more out with Altuve who had been swinging at almost anything, and then sat him down before the 2-3 hitters for the Stros that are more apt to make good contact. Hopefully a confidence builder for him.

You do know that Jackson was our most effective reliever all season, right? Or did you just start watching when they made the playoffs?

I still get nervous every time he is up. Maybe from watching before this year

I agree 100%, but other than the 2 bad outings against LA he’s been $$$. Matzek could have easily given up 3 or 4 last night but nobody will bitch when he comes out of the gate tonight.
Really just tired of the F Luke Jackson bs from folks who obviously haven’t been paying attention.

I am way more concerned about losing Morton. We have two starting pitchers left

I was screaming it all damn night. I was kind of shocked they didn't mention it at all on the broadcast, but the zone was like 20% larger for Houston than us once we got up. Not sure if there has been any discussion of it elsewhere, but thought it was wild how skewed it was. We basically were given nothing on the bottom or either side of the plate that I can recall offhand... couple of pitches up at the top of the zone I think we had called strikes that were close, but the differential was probably +15ish generous strikes at a minimum for Houston.
ETA: If I understood the officiating press release, sounds like Ron Kulpa behind the plate tonight, so get ready for some potential excitement there.

Ump Scorecards brought the proof of how hard the Umps were fricking us last night.
Umpiring advantage of 1.62 runs going in the Astros favor last night. The Braves have been getting shitty calls all post-season, especially against the Dodgers, but that is the highest run advantage from umpiring that I've seen in this post-season thus far.
Keep playing like we currently are, and let the umps work their way back to a more standard run advantage range, and the Braves might do something neat.

Luke's blown game was really just a matter of horrible luck...not horrible pitching. We need him. Snit did a good job working him back in.

Eh... fwiw, his second outing that Matzek bailed him out of was on him... even he admits that. But to me that felt like maybe the Dodgers got in his head a bit after tagging him up on pretty good pitches. Agreed with you above... great job by Snit managing his appearance last night and hopefully getting his confidence/mentality back in the right spot.

What's the take on this from baseball experts? I noticed some media saying this was devastating for the Braves. (?)

The Matzek Miracle bailout was a bad outing by Luke, no doubt about that. Like you I think things got into his head. Bottom line is we're gonna need good innings from him even more now. Let's cross our fingers!

It's tough because the Braves were counting on 5-6 innings per start out of Morton. Minter had to cover his early innings yesterday and now won't be available again until Friday. Also, Morton is a World Series assassin and a proven big game pitcher.

I think the Dodgers picked up something in Jackson and Fried's deliveries and they were tipping their pitches.

Tucker Davidson replaces Morton.
