I'd like to see data on what percentage of each school's fanbase actually attended the school. My guess (from highest percentage to least):
1. Vandy
2. Ole Miss
3. Texas A&M
4. Missouri
5. Auburn
6. Miss State
7. South Carolina
8. Kentucky
9. Arkansas
10. Florida
11. LSU
12. Tennessee
13. Georgia
14. Alabama

I’d say that’s a pretty accurate list

Switch Auburn and Georgia and the list isn't all that bad.

Arkansas is truly the flagship program in our state. Easy assumption that a significant share of the population did not graduate from there. My name is on the sidewalk, however.
...and who cares?

You made this thread so you could do this, eh?

Percentage wise, I think Ole Miss may have more sidewalkers than A&M. Lots of folks in north MS that haven't ever taken a class that cheer for us.

Sorry for being a national brand, I guess?

Same with UGA, but our state has triple the population of Arkansas.

You'd be surprised how many sidewalk auburn fans there are in the state of Georgia alone. Especially in West Georgia.

I think this is probably a combo of state population, success and general popularity. My guess is UF would be somewhere near the very top (if not at it) for the most simply because of how big the state is and being the most popular school in it.

I don't think A&M has had many t-shirt fans in the past, but they've had more since joining the SEC

I actually started thinking about the list in context of the Ole Miss game this weekend.

Wasting your time. As Jeff Foxworthy would say, "the boy is just eat up."

A&M definitely has a very high percentage of alumni who are fans or people that have a direct connection. Very little sidewalk outside of some very casual fans. Sidewalk fans aren't all Texas fans either, Texas just has a LOT of options of schools for people to root for and a lot of people just freaking hate Texas. For instance most folks in West Texas are Tech fans. Huge amount of people in Texas who aren't from Texas as well and brought their loyalties with them, Houston has a ton of LSU fans, DFW has a ton of Sooner and Arkie fans. Then you have Baylor, TCU, SMU, UH, etc all of which have small but loyal followings.
Would think Ole Miss and State would be reverse but don't know. I would put UF down a few notches as they have some of the same issues as Texas, certainly below Arkansas. I don't know anyone from Arkansas that isn't at least a passive Arkansas fan and most didn't go there.

I can assure you most South Carolina fans attended the school. Obviously the sidewalk/tshirt fans are mostly of the orange and purple variety in this state.
Edit: This post aged poorly based on the one below.
EXCEPT - it'd be interesting to see this study now given Clemson's success over the past several years. That 15% would get down to Notre Dame levels (then).
