Ironically, Jeff Foxworthy is a sidewalk UGA fan.

Although raised in a UGA household, he went to GT for college because his guardians lived in ATL and couldn't afford room and board, therefore he had to go to school locally and live at home.

Georgia number 1 in the SEC.

Really find it hard to believe Florida's ranked so high given the fact that there are three major programs in state that divides the sidewalkers up. Plus most of the snowbirds are fans of northern schools. I met very few Gator fans when I lived there compared to Georgia where literally damn near everyone is a UGA fan.

I assume North Carolina is for basketball.

All the others make sense, but how did Oregon sneak in there?

Nike merchandising?

My ranking of the size of every Power Five football stadium if only graduates were allowed in ? 100% too large, by at least 200%. Every damn one of them. Now come on, blue blood college grads, work it out and tell me what fraction results from every football stadium being 200% bigger than needed ... once those nasty non-grads stay home.

I doubt many of you "oh so proud alums" would like the level of play on the field, if only you alums followed and contributed to the team.

Does that apply to all sports or just football?

The reason I ask is that you probably have a large contingent of Vanderbilt baseball t-shirt fans.

This guy clearly didn't go to Kentucky, that's for sure.

Are students included in that total?

Kyle Field would have to be expanded to almost 540% of its current capacity to hold all living graduates.

SBNation did a study in 2015 on this based on seeing how many people that liked a team's fanpage on Facebook had attended said team's school (or at least provided such on their personal facebook page).

The fact that it is dependent on a Facebook metric calls the entire study into question.

Of course - because every living graduate would pay for a ticket to flip that turnstile - to fill that stadium. Because, of course, every A&M grad stayed within driving distance of College Station, prefers to dedicate their Saturday to being in the stadium, and is willing to pay for the price of the ticket. Of course they are.

Which - if true - probably says more about the Village People vibe of the Cheer Dudes than it does the product on the field. It's an interesting economic though, if true. Weird, in a Jim Jones way, but interesting.

Let Miami or FSU string together a few good seasons and that stat would flip flop to one of them.

Florida has a much bigger population than Georgia, which means that even split fanbases still adds up to a huge number.

Sounds like the cultish thing to do.

I find that really interesting, thanks for posting. The disparity between State and Ole Miss (35% to 19%) is really weird. Especially considering both schools were experiencing similar success at the time.

Oh yeah man, in the 90s there were FSU fans everywhere.

Now, not so much.

According to the Association of Former Students website, over 75% of Former Students live and work in Texas.

I’m an Alabama alum. I couldn’t care less about fans not attending the school. College football is a billion dollar entertainment enterprise. Of course those who didn’t attend the school will watch and cheer. I never understood this line of thinking

The gatekeeping is odd.

It's like saying someone can't be a Cubs fan if they don't live in Chicago
