Best Army MOS

I have my pick of ARMY MOS, which one should I take.
I'd like to work for a defense contractor afterwards. Maybe a 3 letter agency but I'm already old so probably not going to use time doing that and go straight for the big money.

Its been too long for me to chime in but do not make the mistake I made. I crushed the ADSVAB and had my choice of what MOS I wanted... and my recruiter talked me into going infantry.
At your age I'd suggest something in the computers field. They always need IT guys and if you have a high security clearance (which you should if you can finagle a Pentagon type job) they'll be fighting to sign you at a Federal agency.

Your life ambitions and goals will most likely change a few times as you see the world and it changes around you.
Honestly, pick the MOS which you are most interested in and everything else will work out. You can always reclass after a few years.

Take the DLAB and learn Arabic or Farsi or something. That would be a huge step towards an agency job.

I was a 13E Fire Direction Specialist in a Field Artillery unit. (used computers to tell the guns how to put a 100lb round in a 1 meter box 17 miles away)
During my time in service the designation changed from 13E to 13D and became more computerized and digital...less manual computations.

I was tricked into 54B (NBC) it’s not 54B anymore but anyway. …Nerve Agent, Tear Gas, Bio Weapons, Decon, Recon……
Don’t do this one. I did get paid extra on my GI bill(they call it a kicker) for doing this MOS tho.

Go IT. Unless you just feel like it's your calling, don't even consider infantry. It's not what it used to be. You'll be stuck with a bunch of fricking idiots. You'll have senior enlisted leadership who never graduated high school. It's not the field shite or any of that that is so bad. It's the garrison bullshite where you will play frick-frick games your entire enlistment.

Something that will give you a security clearance and translate to civilian sector . Like MI, Civil affairs, supply, signal, etc.

Easy answer join the Air Force instead
But honestly it just depends what you wanna do. I work in the Laboratory with some Army folk and they seem to like it. They always tell me they wish they went AF though.

Not saying it was the best, but 52B-30 was Power Generation Equipment Repairman. Had my AIT at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia for about 4 months, 18 miles south of Washington DC.

frick that man…skip the Army and go Air Force.
This is coming from a guy who is on year 23 in the army. 10 as 11M and now 13 as a 153M.
Or if you’re dead set on the Army a Boat Warrant wouldn’t be a bad choice.
