Fire him immediately after the first drive!

Zakoby McClain is arguably our most valuable player

He should be let go regardless. It shouldn't take that long against Ga State to no look like garbage. Bring in Muschamp. He's not bolting for a HC job again because he will never get another one.

Agree with everything you said. Bring Champ back home!

He either doesn't have the players to run it or they don't understand it. Either way, stop running that zone shite so much. I have been dog cussing him for two weeks.
I have dealt with narrowminded and stubborn for almost a decade. I am tired of that shite.

Yep. He let a win slip away last week and almost this week. At least he made halftime adjustments this week. Here’s hoping

Kevin Steele doing anything? His defenses were decent

I’d rather my HC not become a paranoid head case, wondering if his assistant is going to stab him in the back

Where is Brannigan when you need him to point out our shitastic DL / ability to generate pressure.
We havent recruited edge rushers effectively in years. Not going to blame Mason for our DL issues

Speaking of how often does that NW transfer play?
He made some plays today but don’t know if that was his first real action or not

Interestingly, Zac Etheridge said in his post game interview that they ran the exact same defensive plays in the second half. The difference was in the execution. If that's the case, our damn execution was WAY off in the first half

I'm telling y'all. It's just growing pains. This defense will be sick if they can just "get it."
The problem is that this defense puts a lot on the players to make many decisions and if they don't make the right one, it's a wrap. We made the decision to have this defense, we're not going to abandon it.

Masons defense worked at Stanford and Vandy, our players will need time to learn it.

Right now, we are deeply devoid of talent at several key positions. WR is the most glaring, but if Nix went down to injury and we didn't get Finely to transfer, who was next up? It's going to take some time to get us back where we want to be, but the defensive scheme Mason has been running, clearly is not the step in the right direction. If we weren't getting picked apart in the passing game, we had backs running thru giant holes for 20+ yard gains. How many times did we need to see that last week and yesterday before Mason finally got a clue that his shitty defense scheme was getting us destroyed?

This. The number of people demanding to fire our defensive coordinator 4 games into installing an entirely new defense is ridiculous. Sometimes there are growing pains on the path to getting better. Do you want it done, or do you want it done right? What is up with all this instant gratification, if it’s not perfect a quarter of the way into the season fire him?
Also, Muschamp ranked 84, 67, and 105 in total defense his last 3 years at South Carolina. That was with all of his amazing recruits in place and playing in the east. Get that retread shite out of here.

I’ve been bitching about it since 2019.

quote:I'd just like to see the first step on that path to getting better. From what I've seen, we are going the wrong direction and in a hurry! GA ST had over 200 yds rushing on us in the first half!!! I don't know how much more you need to see, before the realization hits you like a house being dropped on your head, that Mason's scheme is just horrible, at best. He had the spring, fall camp, and four games into the season to make some progress. Are you seeing any progress? Just the opposite. We are getting worse. If we didn't change the defense at the half yesterday, we would've gotten blown out by GA ST!!

As good as McClain is, without competent coaching and defensive play calling, McClain's play will be negated by much better teams than we have faced so far.
