Leach was an odd hire. He doesn't fit in with the folks at Starkville.

Coach O fits in perfectly with LSU, and he is terrible.
But he had perfect hires in 2019 and won the championship.
I don’t think Saban fits in with the Gumps. And he keeps rolling.

It's been a shite job ruining careers since Jimbo was bailed out by aggy.
Look at what the coaches have done after FSU.
It isn't as simple as a good recruiting class turning things around, not that it will matter now that they have entered the Tennessee revolving door model of coaching hires.
Their reputation has far exceeded their results this century, again like Tennessee.

To be fair the only coach to ever win consistently there was bobby Bowden, and people just kind of assumed they were a national powerhouse because he was there for so long. They weren’t ever relevant before him, and they may not be after now

I can honestly say that the coaching changes have all played out as I expected for that year. My biggest surprise has been that Kiffin seems better than expected, although I'm still glad we got Pittman, instead.

2 Nattys and 8 BCS bowls in 20 years far exceeds what TN has done.
Not to split hairs but our program is far more comparable to TN over the last 30 years except we managed to expand on the suck the last 5.

Saban and O are not eccentric like Leach. Those two have personalities that put them in good standing with the money people. Leach doesn't and he doesn't fit in at any program. He can't talk himself out of trouble except do the opposite and let his mouth put him in a hole. Why do you think Nutt lasted so long? Because he could talk to the right people that would have his back. The two year pass is a good example of that. Leach doesn't have that personality to pull it off if he has a bad year.
Leach talks a bout pirates, conspiracy theories and fat girls. That is not something that supporters of a major university would discuss in gatherings. It makes him stick out like a sore thumb which IS NOT a good thing.
It was a bad hire, two in a row for state and they aren't far from destroying what Mullen built.
