I was too little at the time but that must suck to be undefeated but not play in the national championship game.

Felt great. Was a different time. We had sucked the year before. There was no BCS. 83 and 2004 sucked worse.

Fun fact, Auburn was also on probation in 1957 which is a season they claim a NC.

No tv either, I sold my Iron Bowl ticket that year outside the stadium for $580 and a kiss.

I was too young as well, but I can almost guarantee that it didn't suck as bad as 04.

Probably for the best. I don't know if Auburn beats Florida in a rematch in the SECCG or beats a team like FSU, Nebraska or Notre Dame in a bowl game.

Dumb punishment. Hurts opposing teams just as much. But yeah 2004 sucked worse considering Auburn was an undefeated SEC team.

Who's "we"? Nebraska (consensus champion @13-0) or Penn State (also named champs by several polls @12-0)? Couldn't be FSU @10-1-1.

I'm glad that it sucked for you guys 'cause USC clearly was the best team that year and would've stomped AU had they played each other.

Not an Auburn fan but in those days college football was so different I don’t think it was anywhere near as shitty as it would be if that happened today.

Surely he got more than a kiss and a ticket for $580 in 1993.

There was no NC game in 1993. Champions were voted on. Even on probation, Auburn was still eligible to be voted national champions by the AP.

Oklahoma (1974) and Auburn (1957) are the only teams to be ineligible for the UPI title due to major probation but still win the AP title.

Honestly, the no TV made for an excellent game experience. Sucked the nation didn’t get to see that great team, but loved the games.
