Louisiana doesn't have a major metro area to attract high paying jobs. Same is true for Mississippi and Alabama.
Well Alabama has Birmingham & a booming Huntsville. They don’t seem to have the problem attracting people.

The money in Austin right now is ridiculous
As i've said before, I have to go there for work quite often, and everyone i work with there is young and making stupid money

Most of these responses are so off. I live downtown right on Lake Bird Lake and I love it and so does everyone else in my high rise and in all the surrounding properties! The occupancy is almost 99% everywhere and to lease is very pricey for a reason. High demand.
Meet us at the Rustic for gameday and we can talk more. I’d consider renting for a year to get to learn the city and then decide. I would not base my opinion off these responses. People hating on Austin are ignorant it’s a great town.

Do you want urban living or prefer country living? Makes a huge difference

Mostly tongue-in-cheek response meant in fun, though every bit of what I said is truthful. You said she is 30; she has 5 years max to have a kid while it is still somewhat ideal. If she will feel the clock ticking, you have at most 2-3 years before you have to start actively trying to get pregnant.
Course, if neither of you want kids, totally different.

Riverplace is a super nice neighborhood and great golf club too. Zero homes for sale as of 3 months ago when I moved away from Austin
I can attest. We lived in Riverplace a few years back.

More urban than country is our style. I'd rather live close to where I work and drive out to the country on weekends over living far out and have to drive to work every day. We have a German Shepherd so we definitely need some sort of yard (high rise/etc. are out)
Apprecate all of the responses from everyone here!

Fiance just got a job offer from one of the big tech firms down there so it looks like we're going to be moving.
Tell him congrats! At least we know who the little spoon is...

Do you oppose structured neighborhoods?

I can see who wears the pants in this relationship. Are you a stay at home dad?

Not a big fan of the structured, cookie cutter neighborhoods where everything looks the same. Not neccesarily opposed to a master planned community though.

Liberal, yes...but far from a shithole.

Downtown Austin doesn't represent the whole city/area. I'll be at the lake!
