This guy knows a shithole when he sees one. I have family living in Shv/Bossier. When he says Austin is now a shithole, I believe him.

I love message boards, where someone from the state of florida where people eat other people's faces on the regular can call a beautiful rich city like Austin a shithole and feel good about it.

My dad already retired and as soon as my mom retires they're getting out of Shreveport/Bossier.

Westlake, Tarrytown, Spanish Oaks and River Place are all very nice neighborhoods with phenomenal schools.

For a lower price point since you will just be starting out in Austin - the Domain has a good apartment living situation.

There are also good communities in Rosedale and Barton Springs, which are each very nice.

There is also the East Side (sometimes referred to as the "brooklyn" of Austin) and Bouldin Creek, which have a bit of a younger demographic. Hope this helps!

You’re replying to a certified disabled citizen. He is a longhorn though. Despite his sneaky name.

Riverplace is a super nice neighborhood and great golf club too. Zero homes for sale as of 3 months ago when I moved away from Austin

I bought a house last year in the Avana neighborhood. Southwest Austin.

The areas not bad. I got the house for a really good deal. The property value in the next few years is going to be crazy. A corner lot down the street from me is going for 1 mill.

Yeah, this has been very helpful. Apartment is out as we have a large dog, do definitely buying/renting a house.

Now that all the trolls are gone. I’d like to add that despite what people all say, I love Austin. Central Texas is hands down the best part of the state. It’s got the best food. Clear rivers and streams. Hilly terrain. Dry air. So much growth going on around there. Some people cannot separate politics and the real world.

Definitely is.

I’m outside every weekend on the lake or the river.

Economy is booming and I make twice what I’d make in Louisiana.

Public schools where I live are top notch.

Crime is low.

My only complaint is it gets hot as hell in July and August, but being in the water solves that.

Mostly Lake Travis and sometimes Lake Austin. Also on the river (Lady Bird Lake) from time to time paddle boarding or kayaking.

I live in Steiner. Entry point these days is $600-$700. If you’re a boater, you might want to find a slip or storage before the house…it’s that competitive. ??

My drive to airport is an hour typically.

Four points has great schools and 78732 is a great zip code.

Home prices will jump again next spring. Get in now while it’s stabilizing.

Any chance of leaving the boat in the driveway in Steiner? Not sure what the HOA situation is.

Austin slips are unicorns and you may pay over $10k/yr

Austin and Travis dry storage is cheaper, but a waiting list.

Damn.

I didn't know Austin had anything that wasn't private. I'm in dry storage in Dallas now and had to get on a waiting list for that too.

no kidding, just get married already and get her pregnant. Then you get to live where you want for your family, not for a company.

This explains why there are so many miserable people on this board. This is really your mindset.

Sadly this is true for many fields. So many people would still be in Louisiana if it weren’t for this. People can deal with the other negatives but money talks.

Louisiana doesn't have a major metro area to attract high paying jobs. Same is true for Mississippi and Alabama.
