4 year starters at QB set a lot of records but are not well-liked by fans

Mond and Corey Pullig have owned many A&M career QB records, but were never held in high esteem by fans.
If you are there long enough to start for 4 years, it seems you were not good enough to be drafted early.
Peter Gardere did the same at Texas.
Not being highly conversant in the history of all SEC schools, who else fit this bill?

Gah he was horrible. Regressed from his HS days.

Jordan Jefferson made me want to jump off a cliff. He didn't set any records lol but had to endure 4 seasons of him starting at least some of the games. I was hoping some way he would declare early for the draft but of course he didn't

Danny Wuerffel doesn’t go with your statement. We love that man.

Nope - 3
Only 4 year starter in recent memory for us is Jay Barker
- Jay Barker - 4 year starter (1991-1994)
- Brodie Croyle - started pieces of 4 years of games (2002-2005) (split with Watts in 2002, hurt in 2004)
- AJ McCarron - 3 year starter (2011-2013)
- John Parker Wilson - 3 year starter (2006-2008)

The only Qb to beat Alabama led Nick Saban twice. How, we will never know.

When you start for that long, not setting a lot of career records would be pretty unusual. For instance, John Parker Wilson was once the career passing leader at Alabama and so was Andrew Zow

Yep - and Zow basically only played half of his senior year.

...and then 10 years later there is Chris Leak who is our all time passing leader and also won a national championship as a senior and nobody likes him.
Of courser it doesn't help that he was accused of sexual assault as a high school coach.

Yeah ours is still Tommy Hodson who is, I think, the only full-time 4 year starter we’ve ever had. Jeff Wickersham, Jamie Howard, and Herb Tyler are 3,5, and 6, all starting 3 years and some change.
Hodson was good, though. He was the SEC career leader when he graduated and a 4x 1st team All-SEC player

Football, especially college, is just not a great sport for "career records" or even "season records" unless that are on a per game/per play basis.
Another reason baseball is and will always be the best

No. He played behind McElroy in 2010.

It irrationally bothers me Chase has our single season receiving record now over Josh Reed. Not only did he have a longer regular season and 2 postseason games, Reed’s bowl stats didn’t count. Had the bowl stats counted, he’d have had almost 2000 yards and over 100 receptions. Reed averaged over 150 ypg, Chase did not
