Man any time these threads come up I just think how much I love our mascot and history behind it. But it also makes me think frick you Jacksonville State!

They don't award wins to the team that got the most yards or first downs.
For the record, I wish we weren't the Tigers. Wouldn't want to be the Outlaws or Bushwhackers, either, as I don't think glorifying breaking the law and killing/thieving are good things.

They are all over the swamps and delta of the MS river, which, like you said, covers more than just Louisiana. They're actually native to South America and were introduced all over the world. They just don't survive very well in colder winter climates. But they can be found in wetlands all over the United States. They were introduced to California long before they were brought to Louisiana in the 1930s. Apparently, they're also becoming problematic in Washington.
