I think MSU had a true freshman play in 9 games and completed 70%

Dumb comparison. Two completely different offenses. Arkansas' Oline wasn't that great last year at pass pro, so there' another factor. Oh, and his first ever start was as a true freshman at LSU.

According to you, players can't improve and because KJ is sitting at 48% completion percentage, that he will always be at 48%.

Good one.

I don't think he stated that.

I see. So you are saying he's going to lite it up?

I think you guys are getting triggered because you are concerned.

He's triggered for sure.

He would not be triggered if he wasn't concerned though. 48% last year is not decent. Unless he improves alot, you won't win many games in the SEC.

There really isn't much reason to have high expectations for Jefferson. Realistically I just want to see him improve to the point of having high expectations going into next season. He'll definitely have his struggles, but it has little to do with his career numbers and more to do with his career playing time.

You're correct he's terrible. The SEC teams probably wont even waste time game planning Arkansas, heck shouldn't waste time game planning Arkansas this year. Perhaps the hogs can keep the Rice game close this year.

This is a great response.

I was thinking you got a guy in the portal again because of QB room.

Malik is really, really athletic. He's a weapon.

If he can make better decisions with the ball and not throw into triple coverage like he did in the spring game then he could really push KJ.

Looking at KJ's completion percentage last year on such a small sample size (mostly garbage time outside of one game) is dumb though. He's never going to be a guy who has a 70+% completion percentage but he has a nice deep ball which I'm sure we'll see a lot of to Burks this year, and his running ability fits the Briles offense better than Franks did. Franks had a really good season but KJ is a more natural QB for the RPO. And again, he was a freshman who was pretty raw to begin with. I think we'll run the ball a lot more this year than last.

We did get Ole Miss QB Kade Renfro who Briles is high on but he'll probably be 3rd string. He's walking on for now but expected to get a scholarship eventually.

We're apparently not taking a QB in the '22 class so we must feel pretty good about what we have on campus, all of them are freshmen basically with the free COVID year. Someone will inevitably transfer but on paper we shouldn't lose any of them for 3+ years.

Matt Jones was the all time leading rusher as a QB in the SEC before Tebow broke it.

Optimistic side for KJ:

Huge arm
Athletic (black)(I kid, kind of. He's shown the ability to run pretty effectively and this should fit our offense better than Franks)
Good pocket awareness

Pessimistic:

Limited experience
Footwork has looked questionable

Neutral:
Our O-line has sucked. Could be better this year. Maybe
Best WR in the league in Burks. But we lost a major piece with Mike Woods transferring.

Overall:

High ceiling, low floor type of player. I think he'll either ball out or get benched.

Jefferson is reportedly well north of 260 lbs. We really haven't seen him run the ball much. We're hoping he can do it.

Dear God, Mizzou was flat out horrible on defense. Do they have anyone that can tackle or any DBs that run under 4.7?

Lookin like a Kevin Sumlin defense out there.
