Tell us about the tailgating atmosphere at your campuses. Is there a lot of open space to really make the best of it or is it shitty like Ole Mrs grove?
Are there areas that are off limits like the Aggy special grass or is everything fair game?
Also, is there a Sonic in close proximity to the stadium in case there are extracurricular activities?
Eta How’s the bar scene? This question is more directed to Sooners as Austin had a pretty well known night life.

Oklahoma tailgating is badass. They have waitress selling beer in bikinis

Texas tailgating is a little different and spread out to many different areas around the stadium. You're in the middle of downtown Austin but there are some great sponsored tailgates as well as fan tailgates to attend. It will be quite a different tailgating experience for a ton of SEC fans.
Ole Miss fans may be the best and most recent visitors to give you an idea of how they differ.

I think Sonic started in Oklahoma. They are sure to have some.

So, just like the Grove, only worse.

Texas tailgating sucks. I was in Austin for the LSU/UT game and the only people I saw actually tailgating were LSU fans who bought up all the paid parking lots around campus for their RV's. Maybe I missed the maintailgating area but for what was the biggest game in Austin that year I left disappointed.

They probably just need to see real tailgating up close and personal. A couple seasons of SEC ball should teach them a few things.

I sure hope so, it's an easy drive from Dallas and would love an awesome atmosphere for tailgating. OU and A&M will be nice too since the LSU /A&M game will move off of Thanksgiving weekend.

You have to fight off the homeless in Austin when tailgating.

That’s random.
Who sells beer at tailgates?
Hospitable fans share.

Its a memorial. Is it weird to ask not to disrespect fallen soldiers?

quote:Space is premium since your in the downtown of a major city. You just have to know where to go to find the tailgates. I'm sure the more you come, the more you'll know where to go and what to look for.

We ended up tailgating with the McCombs folks and it was decent, just nowhere near the tailgating I've experienced elsewhere.

Nothing to be excited about. Austin is centered around their bars. OU fans for a stick up their arse and don’t know how to party. Don’t expect it to be anything close to LSU, Ole Miss or Alabama.

Norman:
- Fairly close layout around the stadium, Uber in and get dropped off.
- Near the stadium you will find tons of tailgating tents setup -- and friendly / inviting people.
- Campus Corner is a must visit. Plenty of good eating. Beer troughs are a plenty.
- Nearing game-time grab your two tallboys for the walk and check out the beautiful campus.
Austin:
- No rhyme or reason to the campus layout. It is HUGE.
- Tailgating is random and can be all over the place and a long walk to other areas. Go into it with a destination in mind.
- Or pick a bar to pre-game at. Again, they are all over, so pick a destination.
- My last game there was 2018 and they were trying to break in their new pre-game area (Bevo Alley or something?). It needed a lot of work. Very packed in, LOOOOONG lines for anything you wanted. I was not a fan. It was pretty cool that the bus pulls up there and the team walks into the stadium there. Overall I wouldn't go here again, I'd stick near a more dense tailgate area instead.

Most of the conference won’t be there but once every blue moon.
