You aren't going to have a consistent program living off of JUCO guys.
Which is exactly why he had a couple of bad years after that first year.

I have no context whatsoever, but wouldn’t over recruiting JUCO guys be a reason not to hire him

I'm not sure that's what happened. He inherited a team that didn't make the tournament the previous 3 years. He signed 5 jucos and 7 freshman his first season. I'm assuming that he built up the roster after that which helped him get back to Omaha a few years later.

Well they wanted someone 0-Q, so they got the other one.

Imagine being this excited about keeping some douche who’s had one good season and just got absolutely smoked in 2 games in Omaha. None of our educated fanbase wanted him, he’s the Tom Herman of baseball

I’m rooting hard for state. It’s one of the only schools in the sec I harbor no hate for anymore
I used to hate Cohens punk arse that was it

Good hire. He will do well at LSU - a good program with a good stadium and a wild fan base.

My expectations at LSU is to make Omaha 50% of the time. I think that’s realistic.
For Johnson that means making Omaha at a 10% higher clip than he did at Arizona. That seems very doable

Seven true freshman and five junior college transfers make up the Wildcats' 12-man class,
LINK
Louis Boyd - JUCO - starting SS
JC Cloney - JUCO - Friday ace
Cody Deason - Freshman - 2nd most IP in the bullpen
Kevin Ginkel - JUCO - #1 bullpen arm (current MLB player)
Ryan Haug - JUCO - backup C, started 19 games
Cesar Salazar - freshman - starting C
Kyle Lewis - started 26 games at 2B
Alfonso Rivas - Freshman - starting CF, also pitched out of the bullpen
So 4 starting position players were freshmen or jucos. The friday ace and top three arms out of the bullpen were freshmen or jucos.
And if the team left to him was so good apparently, how the hell did they manage to miss the postseason three years in a row? Could it be Johnson coached them well? Wouldn't coaching a team up from missing the tournament every year to the CWS finals be a pretty good jjob?

We needed a coach who can help our bats.
I'm just glad it's over.
Watching Tenn melt, then 2&Q, then melt more, and again today has been nice, tho.
