Read this

Colleges can start paying athletes directly immediately. Paid Internships can be sponsored by any company, individual, or the school itself. All the athlete has to do is ask or be offered. In a few weeks schools themselves will start offering paid internships. You are CRAZY if you don't recognize the damage this will do to college football immediately.

Since the NCAA is being seen as an employer now, does Title IX still apply?

Yes, this will be the nail in the coffin, unfortunately. Tax dollars are also spent at these schools.

Most of the people who are in support of this are probably students who don't quite live in the real world yet.

After the SCOTUS ruling the NCAA doesn't really have a leg to stand on any longer. Unfortunately the repercussions of this ruling deny hundreds or thousands of kids the opportunity go to college or go to the next level with their talents.

The small schools won't make it and may have to fold up athletics altogether, which denies kids a place to play college sports and get a college degree.

Correct.

The academic angle is already a joke, so academics will not stand for the semi pro nature of college football.

It will not be the demise, but will certainly hasten the demise. As will widespread gambling.
