When does this thread usually fire up? I know there really isn’t anything happening outside of all the good players transferring to bama.

I know recruiting is way early right now for everybody, but we are lagging way behind our SEC counterparts. Anybody concerned about this?

Yes. I am concerned about this. The early signing period has made it necessary to get a foot in the door with these kids earlier. I hope once we can start getting recruits on campus things will start developing quickly.

I am not really concerned. We knew this was going to happen. The staff wants to see these kids in person before offering and you can’t really sell a college without being there in person. If we go all of June without a commit I might start panicking. This staff isn’t taking Mississippi kids just to take Mississippi kids they are going to get kids from all over and to land those guys they need to see campus.

We have tons of offers out there. Seems like more than usual. Maybe it’s just that I see an announcement for every one that’s extended.

Yeah but the ones that have real offers besides the in state guys have never been to campus.

Anyone know what is going on with Arch? Sure seems like the schools he mentions coming after him the hardest are Bama, LSU, Clemson, Texas and rarely is Ole Miss mentioned. I'm sure we are recruiting him but I do wonder if the staff has been told we will be in the running but he wants to do his own thing and go somewhere else. If that's the case I certainly would rather our staff spend their time on other players but I hope if he is a real possibility for us we would be recruiting him harder than anyone.

In my completely uneducated opinion it’s still too early to worry about his recruitment
I’m sure the staff has a plan for kids his age but results on the field next year + Matt’s development and draft status will go a long way over in person visits. Results sell so we need results. Right now bama, clemson etc have results plus top draft classes every year.

Sure, but at the same time Rivals and 247 need to sell prescriptions and keep current readers. Alabama, Clemson, Texas, ND all have a massive amount of followers.
Attach Manning (regardless of actual interest / I'm sure he is legit interested in some of them) to one of those schools and watch the new subscribers come in.

If even a fraction of the offers we have extended come through we are going to have to either pull back dozens or have 200 on the team.

think he is Texas’s to lose. The Manning are loving some Sark right now.
I think the only way we get him is if Kiffin assures the Mannings and Ole Miss that he's staying for a while, he has some decent success on the field and recruiting talent, and puts Corral in the NFL.
The Mannings aren't as tied to Ole Miss as we like to think they are. The only reason we got Eli was because of Cutcliffe.
Regardless, we will survive without him.
