- Fastest QB in the SEC
- High Football IQ
- Maybe the hardest working player in CFB

That team not only returns arguably the best 3-headed rushing attack in America, but it also returns 10 of 11 players who caught a pass in 2020. Now enters Haynes King, AKA the potential gasoline on the A&M fire. The redshirt freshman quarterback is the ultimate SEC X-factor.
quote:
One pump fake, 1 laser 22 yards downfield to Chase Lane on the far hash and 1 college completion. King showed poise while also displaying that gunslinger mentality that made him an Elite 11 star. On the next play, King stepped up in the pocket when the protection collapsed and he squirted through for an 8-yard gain. He didn’t drift to his right, he didn’t force a throw and he didn’t shy away from contact.
After that, he had an incompletion, 3 more designed runs and a 22-yard scramble in which he missed a wide open Ryan Renick in the flat but he still managed to pick up the first down. Oh, and the drive ended on making a freshman mistake of throwing a fade in Malachi Moore’s direction, which turned into an interception in the end zone.
It was sort of the perfect microcosm for a true freshman in that spot. You got to see the full arsenal. The wheels are absolutely a weapon, the arm talent isn’t in question and the decision-making still leaves some room for improvement. That’s to be expected, especially in Fisher’s offense, which obviously demands a lot of the quarterback position.
quote:
Perhaps Fisher putting King into that game against Alabama was a little bit of a pre-test for the young quarterback. As in “here’s what you can expect next year.” Whatever it was, King will have the chance to shift the balance of power in the SEC in 2021. There could be some gasoline coming to that fire in a hurry.

Racist Daniel, not every white QB has a high football IQ (see Bo Nix for example)

Texag gets off bamas lap for juuuuust two minutes to brag about a non-proven quarterback.
Baby steps. But they are steps in the right direction, right?

This article could just say " Hes better than Kellen Mond."
Thats enough for aggies im sure.
But coming from an LSU fan , NEVER buy into preseason SEC QB hype. The SEC tears apart high expectations.

Especially in an offense that isn’t QB friendly and relies on experienced, complex decision making.

This is like the first time he's ever posted about A&M probably.

It's not due to him bring white. It's due to him being a coach's kid. He got more help than the average player.

Which only goes so far at the NCAA D1 level; where everyone works hard and everyone gets help.
If he needed this help to succeed in high school, he's gonna be in for a rude awakening in September.

Average to mediocre written all over him. Saw him play 20 games in hghschool he just threw it up so many times.

What happened to him in his senior year of high school?
Only completed 57% of his passes for an average of 166 yards per game, 20 touchdowns, 8 interceptions.
Injuries or what?

You may not be a fan, but I don’t think “mediocre” is a word I’ve seen/heard used to describe the kid.

quote:
King was ranked as ESPN’s No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the country. The unanimous four-star recruit was 247Sports’ No. 5 prospect
quote:
Not only is he athletically gifted, King is deadly accurate, especially downfield.

Really? He had a career completion percentage of 61% in high school.

Again, folks are certainly entitled to their opinions.
By no means is it my place to try to convince anyone of anything.
Until he plays regularly at the college level, it’s all speculation anyway.
But I just don’t see how “mediocre” could be an accurate description of him.
Time will tell.

quote:
Charles Power of 247Sports raved about King after he revealed his decision, writing the following in part:
"King tests as the most athletic quarterback in the 2020 cycle. At The Opening Finals, King ripped off a verified 4.52-second 40-yard dash, 4.02-second shuttle and jumped 36.2 inches. He's faster and more explosive than many of the top-ranked skill players.
"That athleticism transfers over to the field. He had the best footwork at the Elite 11. No other quarterback was close to King when it came to getting speed and depth in taking drops from under center. He's exceptional throwing on the move and actually may be better passing on the run than stationary at this point."

A 61% career completion percentage isn't good. It wasn't even good 15 years ago.
But putting lipstick on a pig is one of Aggy's finest turditions, I get it.
