More than a famous name: Arch Manning beginning to carve his own legacy

Arch Manning has visits scheduled, ready to get a real feel for college programs (247)

quote:
...Manning has started to dive into his college recruitment as well. He really likes Steve Sarkisian at Texas. Their relationship began when Sarkisian was in Tuscaloosa. New Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien has picked up where Sarkisian left off and Manning has talked with Nick Saban as well. Of course Ed Orgeron and new offensive coordinator Jake Peetz have been involved. Manning looks forward to seeing what the Tigers offense looks like this year under Peetz. Clemson is in the picture. Ole Miss and Tennessee have called. So have Boston College, Stanford and several others.
Manning said family ties to Oxford and Knoxville will not factor into his decision as he starts to think about the path he’ll take on his own journey.
“I think this summer will be a good chance to go visit some colleges,” he said. “I’m real excited about that because right now I’m just talking over the phone and just building some relationships. I think it would be good to go visit some campuses. We haven’t made any decisions but I’d like to go check out a lot of colleges. I have no idea where I could end up.
“I’m looking for a place that’s like a family with good surroundings, great coaches and good players and really puts you in the opportunity to win. I think anywhere right now, I’m not singling out anywhere.”

His number one target and adopted brother is LSU bound.

I have a buddy that worked on the Alabama staff that told me middle of last year that Sark had a really good relationship with the Mannings. It wouldn't surprise me if he went to Texas.
Right now I think Texas and Ole Miss are the favorites but it sounds like he doesn't want to follow in the family footsteps. We need to keep Kiffin in Oxford to have any kind of a shot with him.

I doubt it'll be LSU with how we've recruited quarterbacks for the next couple of years.
Why would the #1 quarterback want to come in after a top 10 quarterback and 5 star quarterback in the two grades ahead of him?

His two teammates are going to LSU
That at least gives LSU a shot?
I still doubt it though.
From what I've seen he is not on the level Peyton was
I would compare him more to Eli at this point
Still has two years to get bigger and stronger and develop more
Newman needs to play some better competition and maybe they will next season

It’s going to be interesting, hoping he goes to my LSU tigers but nothing is certain now

Would like to have him at LSU obviously but don’t think it’ll happen because Walker Howard is the real deal

Heard he randomly starts LSU chants in the locker room.

Ole Miss will be a factor for more reasons than just family ties.

It is going to depend on the QB in front of him. LSU is out, since the kid transferred to not play behind their QB commit. I could see Texas, because their QB commit is a joke. Has the stats of a 3*, and has looked less than spectacular actually playing football ...
I could see OM as well

He doesn't have an OU offer and isn't a target.
