Matchups with USM have been pretty competitive, as of late. Heard they released more tickets in light of Governor Reeves's announcement yesterday, so should be a pretty good crowd.

game 1 for LSU may not be televised.

LSUsports.net and ESPN both list the game as televised on SECN+, but on the LSU baseball twitter page it says

SECN+ (game 2 only)

We’ve played the toughest schedule thus far and yes, Southern Miss won their last conference title (among many) and always has a good team.

eh, it's negligible. They both played Texas, TCU, and Texas Tech to open the season. UCF and Tulane are probably about even, but I'd personally give the edge to Tulane. Tulane was really really good before the season was cancelled last year (15-2) and returned basically everyone. UCF was 1-3, dropping a series to FAU and a midweek shutout loss to Stetson, before they beat Ole Miss 2/3. Tulane lost a very close, heated series with a good team in ULL before taking State to the wire over the weekend.

UCF is 33 in ELO. Tulane is 44.

FAU is 38 in ELO. They are pretty good.

ULL is 42 in ELO.

So like you said, it’s probably negligible, but according to most ranking indexes Ole Miss has played a tougher schedule.

I wouldn't put much stock in the ELO or any computer model until we have a little bit more data to go on.

Obviously, but it’s better than nothing.

as previous poster just mentioned, using computer polls two weeks into the season is pretty pointless. There just aren't enough data points yet. I can assure you that ULL has a lot of talent on their squad. They have two starters, in fact, that were starters for us previously. One of them, CJ Willis, was a high school AA and a top 60 prospect. He just couldn't get it together his freshman season and transferred.

Tulane's computer models took a huge hit by playing UNO last week and losing via walk-off the last two games of the State series after having 9th inning leads in both games IIRC. All I'm saying is I don't think you can emphatically say that Ole Miss has had a tougher schedule to start the season. They're basically about dead even.

ELO Rankings are generally almost as accurate as any Top 25 poll can be at this point in the season. In fact, the ELO rankings are super similar to the current Top 25 polls.

It’s not like RPI where the #1 team is a 7-8 Northern Idaho team for the first 4 weeks.

At this point in the season, no rankings should be give a ton of weight, and that includes the Baseball America and D1Baseball polls as well, not just computer rankings.

But they do mean something. ELO is by far the best indicator of how good teams 26-302 are. It’s not much different from KenPom in basketball. People use those rankings year round. So at this point, I do believe that Ole Miss has played a tougher schedule. I could be wrong, but that data does mean something and it does point towards Ole Miss having a tougher SOS.

Here are the current SOS rankings from WarrenNolan

Arkansas 15
South Carolina 46
Florida 50
State 59
Georgia 64
Ole Miss 69
Alabama 88
Tennessee 119
Vanderbilt 122
LSU 132
Texas A&M 136
Kentucky 150
Auburn 179
Missouri 196

So like I said, it's negligible, with a slight edge to State

LSU just threw out a runner trying to steal second and the ball hit the mound and rolled to second base.

I work at Kennesaw State University. My office is in a building right across from the KSU baseball stadium along Chastain Road. It’s a beautiful day today for baseball.
