Really sucks last year was canceled. Offense was pretty average but Hancock, Wilcox, Webb, Smith, and Cannon would’ve made up a really nice rotation.

I honestly think this team can do some good things. We obviously have a tough schedule (not Evansville though) in the SEC. I think we will be a bubble team come year end and get some wins over top 10 or top 15 teams this year.

I agree completely. Really sucks, but that's why I think we will do good this year, but it will just take some time. Why I don't think this one game is going to define our season. Could be wrong....Fire Stricklin

First month of the season is about as close to a tune up as you can get and we need it. Our two best arms (Webb and Cannon) aren’t ready to throw yet and Polk, Moody, and Smith are all still recovering from injuries so our bullpen is down some experience. Nevermind that we were starting a freshman behind the dish, at DH, and platooning one at 1B.
I agree with you, this is a 2-3 seed come tourney time but they’re going to need a weekend or two to get their legs and the schedule sets up well for them to do that. Come March 19th, we won’t go 9 days without facing a potential tourney team but before then we don’t face a single team in a projected field of 64.
This was always going to be a rebuild season (with or without COVID) and absent Cannon and Webb next year, we should return a lot of young talent and experience next season with which to make some noise.

What the hell even is an Evansville

School out of Indiana, competes in the Missouri Valley Conference. They’re not very good historically but they have a bunch of upperclassmen and experienced guys returning because of the cancelled season. All in all, we out talent them by a good margin but when you commit 2 errors, give up a bunch of 2 out walks and some HBPs and can’t hit with runners on then you’re probably going to lose no matter who you play.

Actually a pretty big town in Indiana. I think it’s the 3rd biggest behind Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. Historic town for sure on the Ohio River

Way too early but Corey Collins looks really good.

Collins living up to his preseason freshman all American billing for sure
Dawgs lead 7-0 through 4 and don’t have a single XBH today. That’s testament to some good small ball and batting, some shitty errors by Evansville, and some concerning lack of apparent power by the lineup outside of Collins

Wagner posts a 1 hit shutout through 4 full innings, 2 walks and 3 Ks. Not bad for his first outing

Best hitting recruit we've gotten maybe this century. You can thank covid and the idiot MLB Rom Manfred for him being in Athens for three years. No chance he isnt a top 50-75 pick in a regular draft year.

Tried to choke it away with the freshman relievers in the 7th. Really need Polk, Smith, and Moody back. Will hurt not having Brown or Childers this year

I’ll reserve some judgement for when Anderson and King finally get going (both are ice cold right now) but this team seems to lack a lot in the way of power ability

Welp we officially suck this is fricking pathetic

Turns out Nolan Crisp is not a good closer
