Seems apparent that Bobo and Harsin are happy with what they have in the qb room. It's been beat to death the issues with the passing elements of the last offense so with better coaching and scheme how much of a jump in production is realistic?

The game plan should improve, that’s a given. The OL wasn’t nearly as bad last year at least in pass protection. We were middle of the pack in sacks allowed. What I’m looking for is fundamentals. Can they fix his feet? That’s the question. When the kid stands tall, sets his feet, and delivers the ball, he’s great. The problem is that he’s not doing that consistently and he tends to bail on the pocket instead of stepping up.

If the 1 wr routes were as common as many claim that could easily explain why he took off sometimes when it appeared he had plenty of time. I'm just not familiar enough with the ins and outs of football to know if those claims are based in reality

This discussion should probably start and end with the offensive line play. Nix looks exactly the same as he did in high school when he also had a bad OL. Except he was usually the best player on the field and could make plays outside of the pocket.

Bo has received far too much blame. I think of Stidham. Look at the superbowl, Mahomes was running for his life. Without Bo, our record the last two years would have been worse.

His footwork really is terrible but I think he has time to get better. I do think there is a lot of upside that the coaches can use to make him a lot better going forward. He plays bad at times but he ain’t no Jeremy Johnson

I disagree. Tell me a game we would have lost if not for Bo Nix?

And replaced him with Loy or Gatewood?

Grant Loy doesn’t win 6 games for Auburn in 2020 behind that OL.

I will give you Bama. That is an argument that is impossible to quantify really. He did have some dimes in the bama game.

Technically neither does Bo Nix. Without a gift from the refs we only won 4 games. Arky and Ole Miss both beat us and there is an argument to be made that with the blown TD call against UK they would have beaten us.

Look. I don't like Bo. But Loy is not a D1 QB.

Comparing with or without Bo is useless considering our QB room. Comparing him to backups for other sec teams on the other hand..

Good God, man. Did you see his backup in 2020?

I know this is a popular belief on tRant, but it's a joke.

Nix did almost cost us the Arky game - hopefully Harsin/Bobo can at least teach him how to spike. But the refs got it as right as they could have under the circumstances. The other two we won outright.

But you're right, he wasn't a difference maker in 2020. His only stellar performance was vs LSU, and I think we would have won that one regardless of whom was QB (although not by nearly as much).

Just wait til they find out he can't hit a WR in stride unless they're looking for the ball.

Bo can be as Bo wants to be. Not saying he needs to absolutely stay in the pocket every throw but when you need to sustain drives on 3 and 6 and you know the heat is coming you had to stand there deliver the ball and take the punch to the face. If he learns that he will be a great college QB. The OL and WRs have got to get better as well. But as far as QB the only thing really Bad that Bo does is leaks out of the pocket or nails to early. He’s decent on the move but not great. Liked mentioned before when he trust the pocket he really stands in there and rips a strike generally. So footwork and mental (pocket awareness) are the 2 most important but he can also get some help from the WRs as well.

The misinformation about routes. Gus run every route there is. But his pass scheme was to openings in coverage. Harsin’s pass scheme is more to putting defenders in conflict on coverage. Both are good schemes. Just different principles.
