Auburn fans, how concerned are you guys going forward?

A bad class like this one can have terrible long term, compounding effects. Add in a tough SEC schedule in the SEC West with teams trending in the right direction like Arkansas and Aggie, you guys may be looking at a 7-5 type season which in itself could hurt recruiting as well. Maybe Harsin can coach those lower rated guys up, but there are depth concerns to say the least. How much time are you guys giving Harsins?

The next in a long line of former AU coaches on payroll.

Far less concerned than every teacher of yours has been about just how functionally retarded you will end up being.

It's just one class so far. Last year's class was one of the better ones we've signed, on-paper. This one will hurt us a couple of years down the road, but the transfer portal can help that too.

The West is always tough. We've been here before. I don't expect Harsin to be any worse than Gus. I just hope he can be more consistent.

Barring a total disaster, I expect he'll get his full contract for now, whatever that is. I'd rather him build like Tuberville did than be a flash in the pan his first season like Terry and Gus.

Alabama didn't pay buyouts to the coaches they fired before Saban? Actually, which former SEC coaches weren't paid buyouts? You are aware most SEC coaches don't retire, right? That's how the business works. You just hope it's not another $21 mil buyout.

Ok, I am thinking along those lines as well. A class not in the top 15 for 2021 will hurt even more. Transfer portal will definitely be Auburn's friend

Judging by the hostile responses from your asking a very genuine question, I would suggest maybe the concern is pretty high.

Not really if they can spin it correctly. Year 1 recruiting class is just selling a vision usually.

Top-15 is the bare minimum to compete in the SEC IMO. Either that or you'd better be a hell of a coach at developing diamonds in the rough.
I think we are at 20 on the 2022 class right now, but only a few commits.

My concern is that Harsin's pull in the south. I know the boosters have huge influence in Auburn's traditional fertile recruiting grounds in metro Atlanta, south Georgia, and Florida. The question is can those kids be sold on Auburn now and the future

Why don't you act like you've been there and not punch down, frickface.
Posted on 2/3/21 at 1:08 pm to MontyFranklyn
none at all. I love see all the fear on the rant now that Auburn got rid of that moron Gus.

That is a valid point. But we do have some veteran SEC guys on the staff as well that are already used to working those areas.
This class is what it is. We were lucky to salvage what we had. If we don't finish in the top-20 next year, I will be concerned.

Oh, no doubt, but the depth, going into a long season and an always tough SEC schedule, is the biggest question mark.

Tuberville made a living out of 3* guys, but that was 15-20 years ago. It's still Jimmys and Joes over Xs and Os. When you don't have either like Gus was working at, it can get ugly quickly.

Not concerned, in fact reasonable happy. Our recruiting will go through the summer. Our team rankings will not go up, but we getting some quality players.

Not concerned. Timing of the coaching change made it impossible to keep some bodies in the class and difficult to finish out the class. Like I said elsewhere, we have top quality but not quantity in this class. We are recruiting offensive linemen again, which Gus seemed to stop doing altogether.
Recruiting has picked up nicely in 2022 already.
We will be fine.
Thank you for your faux concern.
