Just curious, has there been any kind of spike in Tuscaloosa since the celebration?

This isn’t meant to be political or anything like that. Just genuinely curious because it doesn’t seem like there has been any news following up on that.

Even if there were a spike, I'd be surprised the media would bring it up.

Most of students over there already had it... doubt it was too much of a spike

This. There’s almost nobody left to catch it on campus.

I haven’t heard or seen anything. I did get picked for sentinel testing...so that was fun.

No.

Otherwise, it would lead newscasts and be the headline on Al.com

I did see a story saying that there was a spike, but it was smaller than they expected. Can't remember where I read it, though.

ETA - Still haven't found the story, but from September through the end of the fall semester they were averaging about 60-70 cases per week (low of 24, high of 115). After the celebration they reported 205 new cases.

That was the last I heard about it and says there was no spike. I would think if there was a spike as others said, it would be all other the news.

Both my kids at school there haven't heard anything about a spike either.

I believe Tuscaloosa's numbers have gone down a little since then, but the University's numbers aren't included in Tuscaloosa's for some reason. I haven't seen anything about the University's numbers.

If you ever want to see how many students and faculty have tested positive you can go to this website. It provides weekly updates as to the real numbers.
Also be aware, they are randomly testing students. My daughter got an email last semester and had to go in for a test for no good reason.

DCH didn't have any available beds earlier this month. My mother had a stroke and the medics wouldn't take her to DCH, no place for her. That's not good.

Number of Covid inpatients at DCH has being going down steadily since the beginning of the year even with all the students coming back and the celebration.

On 1/5/21 there were 176 inpatients at DCH being treated for Covid
On 1/26 there we 148 of the same type patients.

The fact that the numbers are lower even with all these students coming back is remarkable and shows us something we should not ignore!

National Championships cure Covid!!

WBRC: No huge spike in COVID-19 cases after national title celebration

quote:

TUSCALOOSA Ala. (WBRC) -We all remember seeing hundreds of fans on the Strip celebrating another Tide national championship. There were concerns that it could turn into a COVID-19 super spreader event.

But there hasn’t been a huge spike in cases there since then. Today, Mayor Walt Maddox said the COVID-19 situation in Tuscaloosa is improving including a downward trend in hospitalization.

Covid is the lamest pandemic EVER if you look at the statistics... Also doctors have been paid to inflate the numbers... Don't believe the government... They're lying to us and the so-called vaccine has killed several people but the MSM hasn't reported any of them... We've been LIED TO!

How many of those deaths are actually related to Covid??? Because covid has been around for years!!! Read an old old lysol spray can. I had it, never went to the doctor and my own immune system took care of it... So of those #'s, how many ACTUALLY died of Covid? How many of those people died of something else and then it was attributed to Covid??? And remember those pics from China showing people dropping like flies and us seeing pics/vids of overrun hospitals from covid cases? How many of these situations have you actually seen?? Matter of fact, let's ask the entire board... Remember when this thing first came up and we worked worked into a frightener frenzie, how many of you all witnessed the shite they were showing us in tv??

What grade did you actually complete??? And why can't you answer a few simple questions??? Please keep wearing your mask like a dumbass and keep believing what the MSM tells you... The same media that told everyone that Trump was literally Hitler...

Dummies like you believe what they're told instead of researching the facts and coming to logical conclusions... And for as much hell as I raise here, I'm actually much more informed on current issues than you might believe and believe in facts and data that's logical... Kinda like a computer programmer or mathematician of which I have a minor BTW... So let's have a conversation... I'll show and give you actual data that you can research... Once you've learn a thing or two how you ban yourself for wasting my time..
