When they fired Butch Jones. He was absolutely giddy on his show this afternoon that Tennessee doesn't have to pay Pruitt and his staff any money on their way out the door, completely ignoring the fact that the NCAA is investigating them for multiple Level I and Level II violations.

They say denial is a river but if that river had a face, it would be in the form of Clay Travis.

Travis has had some intelligent and insightful things to say in the last couple of years.

This isn't one of them.

This is up there with Travis predicting BAMA would lose 4 games immediately following the loss to Ole Miss in 2015.

Didn't he lead the last coaching search?

“We don’t suck nearly as much as we did 3 years ago”

Solid insight Clay. I agree with you.

If the tree of Liberty must occasionally be refreshed with the blood of tyrants and patriots, the tree of tRant must occasionally be refreshed with the blood of a Tennessee coaching search.

Is he not aware of the roster losses UT is facing, between possible mass portal transfers & NCAA mandated scholarship reductions? What decent HC wants to walk into that mess?

Well, CBJ didn’t cause the NCAA to take up residence in K’ville like CJP and PF have. This is far, far from over.

He is the fool that pined for Pruitt!!!!

If they hired him as AD and he hired Freeze, in 3 years when the Vols end up in a worse scandal he’d be on the radio saying what a dumb decision it was by the Trustees to hire an under-qualified radio personality to hire their head football coach.

How do people not remember this?!

I’ve never understood that take. Getting out of paying a fired coach means no good coaches are going to risk going to your school.

Maybe if they weren’t just waiting to get run over by the NCAA he’d be right.

I don’t know why he’s so giddy. Two things will come from this: Tennessee gets hammered by the NCAA or the NCAA hardly finds shite, Pruitt sues, and UT ends up paying him anyway.
