SC 247 update a couple hours ago..

quote:

Wide receivers coach is the final piece of the puzzle remaining on offense and things have been quiet on that front for the majority of the process. Arkansas wide receivers coach Justin Stepp was mentioned to me again over the weekend as someone to keep an eye on. This source could not say for certain that Steps had been offered the position, but there is reason to believe he is in the mix and not someone to discount. Beyond Stepp, there was nothing else I picked up as it relates to the receivers spot.

I'm sure 247 is already freaking out about it. They're basically just as bad as Hogville now, especially recently.

West and Biddy are also fricking assholes. Biddy basically joked 2-3 weeks ago about Stepp going to Carolina like it was some kind of slap in the face, because he apparently knows the guy. He acted as if he'd never leave Arkansas.

Who knows if he will or not. But since there's smoke on this yet again there's probably some interest somewhere.

All I know is this. We lose Stepp, we lose the best recruiter on staff by a mile and some WRs will likely transfer.

Thought it was rumored he might leave around signing day but then that died down. Would hate to see him go.

Sounds like there may be some reality to it this time around. He’s from South Carolina so this was one job we always had to be worried about.

I will say this now, things can change over the course of 3 weeks and that's why you never say never. This one would no longer surprise me.

...there's only so many chances to go home and be around family, and make more money. Both of his parents went to school there.

South Carolina board now projecting it to be a done deal. Reading the tea leaves, it sounds like because they hired such a meh staff elsewhere for cheap they are going to pay him very well.

Was probably done a few weeks ago when multiple SC sources said he was interested.

Looks like he was just being kind and waiting until after NSD.

That’s what I’m guessing too. They had some poster on their board who knows the family directly saying for weeks this was happening.

He earned his keep here. More than any other coach during his time at Arkansas. Not gonna be bitter. Good Luck to him if its happening.
