Why do big six teams always act entitled and lose bowls?

Seriously, every year it seems one of the alleged big boys misses out on going to the playoff, and before that the bcs title game
They get given a nice bowl game for the season they have, and then players leave and the team acts like they don't wanna be there cause "NOOOOOOO NOOOOOO THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE OUR YEAR WE ARE SUPER SPECIAL"
Be it Florida yesterday, Georgia a couple years ago, Auburn in the peach Bowl, or Bama in the sugar before that, it happens alot and it's pathetic.
Whoever loses the sec title game should be forced to go to the Birmingham bowl to end this gayness.
please note this is a football thread, not a basketball thread

Why is UK 1-6 in basketball?

The one against UCF
Nowhere near as bad as last night but still, Auburn shouldn't lose to UCF

Sports psychology. Hard to play or prep the same in the next game after giving your very best and coming up short in a championship game.
It would be the same for most. You are just focused on the big 6 because they are more typically one of the teams losing the SEC CG.
Non-Big 6 SEC CG losers are 2-5 in their follow-on bowls.
seems consistent

Georgia is 14-6 in bowl games the last 20 years.
Richt went 2-1 in BCS bowls. Kirby is 2-1 in NY6 bowls.
I realize everyone hyperventilates about Georgia losing to Texas, but that was a rare bowl loss for Georgia

Agree. Another reason we fired the guy who did that. Unfortunately, unless things change, I don't think we are going to see full strength and motivated teams anymore. It sucks.

It's because all the teams you listed were on the fringe of going to the playoffs and just missed it. I think after the letdown, they just don't care to play in a bowl game that doesn't mean much.
Some people will say I'm pulling the excuses card, but I'm just being real.

Yeah. But it wasn't opt-outs (AFAIK) but more like key injuries. Kerryon Johnson was banged up pretty bad. He got hurt in the SECCG and was knocked out of that game. His injury deflated the whole team and AU got smashed by UGA.
As for UCF, I don't remember if he was still hurt or just opted out (I don't recall). But it's hard to blame him when he was going to be a high draft pick AND was coming off a big injury.
AU has several players opting out of this upcoming game and I am not happy about it. The thing is, none of them are top 5 picks or even 1st rounders like Pitts was. That makes it even worse.

Alabama's 2013 Sugar Bowl came after losing the following on the last play of their previous game
- chance at a national championship 3 peat
- chance at a Heisman
- chance at a national title (replaced by Auburn)
- chance at a SEC Title (replaced by Auburn)
- chance at a SEC West Title (replaced by Auburn)
- chance at beating our rival (replaced by Auburn)
And that one play was possibly the single most famous play in college football history and it allowed our rival to replace us in all of those things that we were chasing.
For most of the guys on that roster it was literally the first time they'd played a game at Alabama that had no national championship implications. In their entire Alabama career.
So...yea, I completely understand the human element of going from THAT to playing the #11 ranked team in a bowl game. It sucked, but they aren't robots.

They don’t? We lost the SECC last year, were missing 11 (maybe more) starters for the Sugar and whipped our opponent.

This is a football thread Rocky, if you want to talk about what utter hot dogshit Kentucky basketball has become and how they probably won't even be .500 in the SEC this year, start your own thread.
