#Gators WR Kadarius Toney announces he's also opting out of Cotton Bowl.
Florida will be without top three targets in passing game, losing 151 catches for 2,343 yards and 31 receiving touchdowns worth of production - LINK
Trask loses almost exactly 50% of his passing yards with Pitts also out.
Interesting though, this should be a showcase game for Trask to NFL scouts.
Playing against a top 20 defense without his 3 top targets.

I read OK had a db opt out. Who else is out for them ?

I totally understand the risk vs reward decision. But "opt out" needs to be replaced. They are deciding that it is no longer worth it to play for UF. That's quitting

I don't blame Toney or Pitts. Both will make a ton of money in the NFL.
I am shocked Grimes opted out. He must've got a good draft grade, because as good as he was this year, he dropped a ton of passes.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock in this game if I was a scout. He isn't going to have a lot of his weapons.
Does Fl have any young receivers the rest of us may not know about?

Thanks espn. Nothing but the playoffs are important anymore. I’m sure Kirk will be crying about it though

Theres a rumor Jacob Copeland is out due to COVID.
If true, Trask is without his FOUR top pass catchers this year.

Yeah, business decision and all that, but this "opting-out" is taking away any remaining excitement for bowl games.
I don't know what the solution is, but the trend is not good for college football fans.

Of course and if you want to protect that expected income, you should do it. But at the same time, UF is a huge reason that thousands of people will buy Kyle Pitts jerseys at $150.00 a pop wherever he is drafted. He'll get endorsement deals based on his profile that he created using the platform Florida provided him. The narrative that there isnt a mutually beneficial relationship is dishonest

My favorite are the guys that are opting out of the bowl games but are still playing in the senior bowl. Bowl games have been killed off

This will tell alot about Trask as a QB. Theres a lot of draft chatter that hes a product of having an elite TE and an elite WR.
Performing well against a strong OU defense certainly helps him.

Without Pitts, Toney, Grimes, and Copeland...
UF still has Keon Zipperer and Kemore Gambell, the two backup TEs who played really well this year, and Justin Shorter, Xzavier Henderson, Trent Whittemore, Rick Wells, Jordan Pouncey of the group of WRs that will see the most PT.

Is Pitts the tall receiver that is so good? If so I was surprised that he plays tight end—he reminds me of Calvin Johnson.

This is true. It has become the CFPs or nothing.
I get the personal and business side of the decision, but it doesn't make it any less selfish for the school, fans and teammates that supported those star players along the way who would still take pride in winning a Cotton Bowl, which used to mean something

They want to televise all 15 games. It would be a massive cash cow.

No, Shorter is the tall WR that played against Arkansas. Pitts was out due to the concussion he had in the UGA game

It's sad for their teammates - for these guys to benefit from the contributions of others, only to leave their team with no supporting cast to showcase their own skills

I don't want to hear any excuses, Gators. You can't let lowly OU get the dub over an SEC team.
