Am I alone in thinking Harsin is a pretty good hire?

I mean he has his hands full with recruiting this year but if he can get some good assistants I think he will be all right.

Other than auburn fans, yes.

Any Auburn coach is going to have hell recruiting

I think it's hard to say when a G5 coach jumps to a P5 school. He may get better players and do really well or may have trouble getting the better players and struggle.

I'd give it a B-
I could end up being very wrong, obviously, but from what I've read from Boise fans on r/CFB, he seems like a clone of Gus, in terms of results.

Yeah, this class is shot. With the Covid rules, that will help out.
Recruiting O players shouldn't be hard. I am sure Steele will be the DC, so things won't change there.

The other voices in your head agree.

If he does the things you expect your new head coach to do correctly he will be pretty good?
Really going out on a limb there. No one here knew who he was before today.

He’s a good football coach. Whether or not he is right at AU is tbd. AU is one of the toughest places to win due to its annual schedule and recruiting competition.

He’s not Shane Beamer but after firing a guy who took them to a national championship game and paid him $21 million to go away, this is underwhelming.

No. Auburn has been a bunch of pussies under Gus... I actually think he brings some toughness... However, I do 100% understand and acknowledge the Butch Jones comparison. I’d be interested to see if he can recruit. If he can, he’ll be fine. If not, AU will be Tennessee from now until they get finished paying Gus and Harsin.

I keep seeing people say this. He had a .784 winning percentage in 7 years at Boise. If their fans weren't happy with that, they are some spoiled arse people.

He's a decent football coach. I seriously thought Auburn could do better

So in other words he’s fricked

As I understand it, BSU has a tremendous advantage over the rest of the MWC in terms of talent and facilities. That, and the kind of success that Hawkins and Petersen had, might cloud their expectations a good bit.

You can say that a bout any coach. When Bert was hired, he was praised and his resume was solid. But he was a terrible fit here, no work ethic such as skipping recruiting visits and had hangovers on football Saturdays.
I give this hire a B.
