Didn’t really wanna start a new thread on this, but he’s playing pretty good football right now.

He very much seems like Keith Marshall (pre-2014), and despite the occasion of tripping himself up, he’s been less utilized between the tackles and more in the passing game. He was a matchup nightmare against Bama and Mizzou.

Kudos to Monken for finding his strengths and using them to the team’s advantage. I know our fanbase has been frustrated with his play at times, but he’s really looked like a playmaker at many points in the season.

He looks bigger to me this year. I think he has bulked up some without losing any speed

He has improved making the first man miss.
Once he can do that, he often gets a chance to showcase his burst.

I love him catching angle routes out of the backfield. I dont think we can throw those enough as any linebacker on him will get torched.

I think he's gone next season. I really like his improvement, but I have a feeling his departure will make room for guys who will do more with their touches.

More Kenny McIntosh on screens. More passes to the TE. More Burton on short crossing routes. More Milton.

I hope he's a great pro, but I think those other guys getting more opportunities will make the team better.

Been playing very good the vast majority of the year and he's our most explosive player in our backfield

He was banged up almost the entire year in '19 and part of '18.Its the first time his ankle has been 100% since he got here. For some reason most in this board didn't realize the situation

Theres no doubt he plays on Sundays...I just hope sticks around for his senior year

ETA: Coley did a horrible job of getting him in space last year

Monken is actually using Cook the right way.....

I've been really impressed at Monken's playcalling..... He even got results with a 5th stringer.... No offense Stetson.... But it is true !

It's been a pleasure watching him develop. Even his pass protection has improved dramatically.

Cook has deceptive speed. He looks like he is strolling down the field but few can catch him. Reminds me of Hank Aaron chasing a fly ball.

I think it has more to do with having a QB that finds open receivers downfield and isn't afraid to take shots. That opens up your playbook tremendously and you can move the ball around to a lot more people. I don't think it's as much play design as it is having a QB that executes effectively, and receivers holding on to the ball instead of dropping it or running the wrong route. Defense can't stack the box anymore, so guys like cook actually have a chance to make the first man miss. All of our RB's stats have gone up with JTD.

Well yeah, most fans have been wanting to get him in a pseudo Alvin Kamara/Percy Harvin role. Whenever they get him the ball in space, he just beelines it to the endzone.

Cook looks so much better this year.

Imma assuming hes improved his skills as he gets older but the new system has made him look so much better. More calls are to his strengths as a runner and not so many up the gut runs.

That angle route out of the backfield that he scored on against Missouri is one of my two favorite routes in football (wheel route is the other). It is such a mismatch if the defense is in man coverage. There isn't a linebacker in America who can cover Cook one on one in open space.
