He likely has very very little chance unless vandy strikes out on their first 10 choices and just see "alabama and georgia" on his resume and feel that's good enough

He's getting ahead of himself here. Get in a full season as a coordinator before going after a HC job in the SEC.

He should wait for a Houston or SMU type job opens up in 2 years.

Yeah, but Pitboss had years and years as one of the best position coaches in the country.

Cochran has had less than one year in a comparable position. He's doing a pretty good job, but come on.

Too early...but why not.

He is 41 and isn't getting younger.

I talked to him for about 30 min once and he was a good dude. Nothing like the yelling videos on youtube.

0.0 chance of that. No way he gets along with the powers that be at Vanderbilt. They had a hayseed a couple of coaches ago, and it was a disaster.

Cochran should go to like a Colorado State or a Wyoming and build his resume. U of Lower Bama is looking for a coach. He would be perfect.

Vanderbilt should get serious about their football program before they do anything.

Jordan Rogers was talking to Finebaum the other day and he said it did not matter who they hired. Until Vanderbilt gets serious about their program and facilities it won't make a difference who they hire. They can't get the players needed to compete in this conference.

Vanderbilt could buy all the other SEC schools. I think they think that a really good football tram would somehow cast a negative light on their academics. I imagine their woke movement won’t help.

Vandy has always had a ton of potential. It just takes the right coach with support from the administration.

If Northwestern can go it Vandy certainly can.

He doesn't lack enthusiasm or ambition...both those things will get you a long way in the coaching profession.

They got Will Muschamp two high-paying jobs. Too bad he couldn't coach well enough to keep either one.

I'd be surprised if anything came of it, but I'm not surprised that he'd float his name out there. He said when he took the ST Coordinator job that he'd like to be a head coach at some point. If he can even get an interview for Vandy and get his name associated with HC openings, that's a win for him honestly.

Not remotely close to Cochran when it comes to enthusiasm and motivation
