Leach has ran off many of the turdheads. This combined with Covid contact tracing has limited us. Without any further problems we would've been back at full strength for Mizzou this week and for Auburn next week.
I guess my question is how many scholarship players do y'all have right now if no one is out due to COVID? I read somewhere that something like 17 have transferred out or quit since the spring, so even if y'all had a full roster to start the spring, that number would be down to at least 67 if everyone was healthy and not under COVID protocols. But I'm also not sure if y'all had a full 85 to begin with. I know we didn't after losing 34 players to graduation and the draft last year. I think we were in the low to mid 70s before guys started opting out this past summer.

They were forced by the SEC because according to Covid protocols a team has to have at least 1 QB, 7 OL, and 4 DL able to play. Our OL group was in quarantine so we didn't have enough eligible OL.
Do you have a link to this? I'm not questioning your info. I would just like to see it because I suspect that this the biggest issue for teams, but haven't seen it explicitly stated by the SEC.
Eta: I'm talking about the SEC forcing part of your statement. I'm familiar with the roster limits.

Ok...think of the logic here. Why would Missouri be scared of Arkansas? Beyond that, why would any college athlete not want to play or be scared to play? Come on, I know this is all in fun speculation, but no one is afraid to play anyone.
Who said anything about anyone being scared? If Missouri-Arkansas was going to be called off now it would mean that Missouri has had some sort of new Covid outbreak and can’t play. That is a medical issue and not a scared issue. My guess though is that the original post is not accurate and our game will be played without a hitch.

Here is the current guidelines

Don't see anything about the roster minimums on that document, but here is an article talking about it.
LINK
quote:
To play a football game, the SEC has established minimum thresholds of at least 53 scholarship players available to participate and the following minimum number of position scholarship players available to begin a game: seven (7) offensive linemen (which includes one center), one (1) quarterback and four (4) defensive linemen. The impacted institution has the option to play the game with fewer than the 53 scholarship players or fewer than the minimum number of position players listed above if it elects to do so. Otherwise, upon approval by the Commissioner, the game would be rescheduled or declared a no contest.
So it looks like you are still allowed to play if you don't have those minimums in the position groups, but I think it would be ridiculous for people to expect a team to go out and play with, in this case, the entire OL in quarantine. As I said earlier, that would pose a pretty big player safety issue to have no offensive lineman able to play. You can work around other position groups having guys out without risking players getting hurt playing out of position.

If a game is postponed, someone is scared and someone is the alpha. That’s how it works on the SEC Rant.

I didn't edit my post fast enough. I knew about the numbers, but hadn't heard of the SEC forcing a school not to play based on position groups. This is saying that schools are still allowed to play if they choose to. Although I don't know how a coach could send his team out there if multiple positions groups don't have any players available.

We are somewhere in the mid 60's.

Yeah, read my edit. I agree. I also think that even though the SEC says a school can choose to play without those minimum thresholds, I think the SEC would likely step in and cancel/postpone a game if a school had zero OL and tried to go out and play anyways. I think that poses a pretty big PR nightmare and could create liability concerns.

Was Leach actually going to try to attempt to play with no offensive line?

So assuming a State has a normal number of guys out due to injuries, I'd assume State has around 55-60 guys available if no one is out to COVID protocols? If that's around accurate, I guess they probably would be close to cancelling the rest of their games if they strictly adhered to the 53 number as it would only take a handful of guys sick or contact traced to put them below 53

Drink at presser today:
Drinkwitz says he anticipates having 61 scholarship players available barring further COVID positives this week. Calls that "almost full strength." Says Daniel Parker Jr. could be available this week depending on how this week goes. Decision should be made Thursday or Friday.
No new COVID positives on Sunday's test.

I hate to say it, but the melts that would be produced by LSU backing out, far outweigh any embarrassment I may feel as a fan.

The FSU COVID “opt out” disease starting to permeate other Conferences...limp sausage ACC Commissioner should have slapped FSU with consecutive forfeits and fined the school full reimbursement to Clemson and UVA for the travel costs incurred.
