Orgeron also let his players go home for Thanksgiving

I'm kind of interested to see how many players around the country test positive in the next couple weeks after Thanksgiving. I have a sneaking suspicion the college football world is going to be a complete shitshow with games cancelled, especially in the other conferences outside the SEC. Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah I'm interested to see that as well. We saw major issues after Halloween in both college and the NFL. It's just starting to get better and it's probably going to go right back to chaos.

So, if it's Bama that has to postpone you will be right back here to say that they're cowards right?

If you cancel/postpone over COVID as the underdog, you're a coward. If you cancel/postpone over COVID as the favorite, you're just protecting your team. Don't you know how things work here?

Mississippi State and Kentucky have both played with "not enough" players.

They've both also not played because they had "not enough" players.

Yeah, I'm sure a coach demonizing a coach/team for not playing due to issues surrounding a pandemic would play really well in front of a mother on a recruiting trip

And how do we know it's not Alabama "dodging"? Saban has shown to be very much "by the book" as it pertains to COVID and takes it very seriously. If his team is having issues with it, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he plays it safe, especially with more important games for them coming up. He knows the LSU game doesn't even matter for them this year, and the last thing he would want is having player health problems heading into the SECCG

Guess that number is going to be down to 58 this weekend and possibly down to 55 if some of the other rumors are true of more guys "opting out" (quitting)

Who is avoiding who in that Arkansas/Missouri matchup?

Must be Missouri because Pittman just said yesterday most of our team was back and we are a go.

there is literally a scholarship player availability requirement. If a team can't hit that, they aren't allowed to play.

Bullshite!!!!! The rule states that IF a school falls below the 53 scholarship rule, that they can still elect to play. Final decision is up to the school.

State played UGA with 43 scholarship players and Ole Miss with 45.

State also cancelled their game the week prior to UGA over COVID, which kind of begs the question as to why State has had under 53 players available for over a month now? I know a lot of guys quit or transferred early on but are there also a lot of guys hurt? No way something like that is still only COVID related. The players in contact tracing protocols shouldn’t be out that long.

Yes, that is true, but if a team has an entire unit out, which is very possible with the ridiculous contact tracing rules, the total number of players available doesn’t mean it’s realistic in every situation to expect a team to play under 53. For instance, if the entire OL is in quarantine, it would be idiotic and honestly pose some player safety issues to let a team try to play through that. I also don’t know why people even would want to watch teams go out there with hodge podge teams. Would it feel like an accomplishment or something to slaughter a team that can barely play?

You'd think Missouri would kind of be past COVID stuff too given they had so many issues in the past few weeks. That state has also been on the down trend with COVID cases. the past couple weeks. They spiked in the middle of November but their daily new cases are back down to what they were in mid October now.

I guess we will just have to push back the Mizzou game to next week and miss out on playing bama this year. Shucks.

Ok...think of the logic here. Why would Missouri be scared of Arkansas? Beyond that, why would any college athlete not want to play or be scared to play?

Come on, I know this is all in fun speculation, but no one is afraid to play anyone.

Other than the one AM radio broadcast referenced, I can find nothing about covid issues with any of the 4 teams involved. I call bullshite.

Yes, but you've entered the alternate universe knows as the SECR. A place where grown men, many who never played a sport passed the age of 9, have all the answers

They were forced by the SEC because according to Covid protocols a team has to have at least 1 QB, 7 OL, and 4 DL able to play. Our OL group was in quarantine so we didn't have enough eligible OL.

Leach has ran off many of the turdheads. This combined with Covid contact tracing has limited us. Without any further problems we would've been back at full strength for Mizzou this week and for Auburn next week.

So is the rule about being allowed to chose to play under 53 not applicable when those other position minimums aren't met? I honestly have no idea. These conference COVID protocols are all over the place and sometimes hard to follow. (I think you also have to have at least 1 center available too under those position group guidelines fwiw)

Fake news. Kentucky for sure had +53 scholarship guys for the Bama game. Postponing wasn’t an option.
