If Pete Carrol didn't win the PAC-10 for five years, he'd probably be fired, too. It's not likely to happen, just as it's not likely for Alabama to not win the West once in 5 years.

2000 SEC West Champs - Auburn
2001 SEC West Champs - LSU
2002 SEC West Champs - Arkansas
2003 SEC West Champs - LSU
2004 SEC West Champs - Auburn
2005 SEC West Champs - LSU
2006 SEC West Champs - Arkansas
2007 SEC West Champs - LSU

What an UNLIKELY string of events these last EIGHT years.

Please don't confuse the Gumps argument with facts. They don't deal with those too well.

I think you completely missed the gist of my post. It is unlikely that Alabama will not win the West within a 5 year period with Nick Saban as the head coach.

BTW, we technically won the West in 2002, but were banned from postseason play, which includes the SEC championship.

You're right, even though Les Miles does a hell of a lot better job with Saban's players than he ever did.

Actually, we won the West but were technically banned. This one goes down in the history books as Arkansas. Let's give folks their due when its recognized if we expect to have our chit recognized. We'll be getting back there in the coming years, so don't fret it.

I am pretty sure that the winner of the SEC West plays in the SEC Championship Game. That's how you can tell if you won the SEC West.

Dunno why you replied to me, I think I pretty much said we weren't the SEC West winners then, it was Arkansas.

of course not, Bear is the greatest ever....ever

Bear is almost like God and that brings me to this;

A BAMA fan died and went to heaven. St. Peter asked him where he wanted to spend eternity and he said, "I would like to spend eternity watching Alabama and Auburn football games."

St.Peter told him that heaven has a cloud that is only Alabama and Auburn football games around the clock and took him for a visit. There on the field were all of the old greats from both teams that had passed away.

The man looked down on the field in amazement and all of a sudden he saw this giant of a figure standing on the Alabama sideline wearing a coat and tie. The man had a folder rolled up and clutched in his left hand and atop his head was a houndstooth hat. The man turned an ashen white and looked at St. Peter and said would you take me down there now and introduce me to coach Bryant.

St. Peter replied, "that's not coach Bryant, it's Jesus, he just like to act like he is coach Bryant"

Is it just me?

I find this "joke" a little disturbing. Somehow, it does not seem for fetched for some Alabama fans to take it literally.

The constant daily almost hourly references to a man (Paul Bryant) that coached football is insane! But then again, it could just be me.

I agree, it's just a joke. It's taken that way by Scoop but unfortunately many Bama fans actually take that literally and worship him like a true God. That is a little sick.

Ooooohhh sensitive Bama Poop!

I was simply making an observation. Regardless, the manner in which Alabama worships Bryant and its past history is over the top and "dysfunctional" IMHO.

The only thing up my arse right now is the desire to see LSU lay the firewood to the Tide again! I actually felt sorry for Alabama a couple of years ago watching Auburn make Croyle look like a rag doll in that beat down. Now that I have a better understanding of the Alabama Nation, seeing the Tide get flushed will never get old no matter how ugly it is.

Roll Tigers!!!!!!

I'd lay money down, that if you could search keyword Bear Bryant on here, it would come from Lsu folks more than Bama folks. A couple gumps for sure reference. But, the majority of his name being mentioned is tiger fans sayin how Bama folks say it.
