Since there aren't many good UF-Arky games to watch (2009 was good but the officiating ruined it), give this one a try. Two offenses that were cutting edge at the time with coordinators that are HC's now (Mullen and Malzah). Two key plays: Arkansas' Reggie Fish muffing a punt rerun and Florida running a fake punt from their own endzone.

Nutt and CUM took very different paths to the same retired status. Arkansas was only down 24-21 at the start of the 4th quarter but eventually Percy Harvin, a stacked Florida defense, McFadden's injury problems and a real Dick at QB was too much for the Hogs to overcome. One of the best SEC title games IMHO

What is up with Arkansas and choking big games on pop fly catches?

Arkansas should have gone all in on DMAC at QB that year. They did it a good bit and it worked well, but should have just been 100 percent of the time. Dick could not complete anything anyway, at least DMAC gave the threat to run and also have Hillis, Jones and McFadden all in at the same time

I wonder if Arkansas would've made the BCS title game? They would've had more wins than the other 2-loss games but by far the worst loss of them all: 40-14 at home to USC. The media would've wanted an OSU-Michigan rematch or OSU-USC i'm assuming. Give Louisville a shot? Bert's Badgers? Boise??? LINK

Herbstreit and a majority of the ESPN people wanted an OSU/Michigan rematch, even with 1 loss Florida winning. I'll obviously never forget the whipping put on Ohio State, but Michigan also got destroyed by USC (final score was closer than the game actually was). Both games were very satisfying.

This won’t age well.

ETA: Misread it. Thought it said Mus and Gus. Then again, still no confirmation SoCar got enough buyout money in the plate on the first pass.

Nope.

Had they beaten LSU and also won the SECCG they would have made it

I'm not someone who pulls for other SEC teams, but I disagreed and I think many others did bc OSU-Michigan game wasn't nearly as close as the score would've suggested; the opposite was true for Florida's loss to Auburn (AU returned a fumble for a TD on the last play or something)

LSU would have played in the Rose Bowl if Arkansas won.
I was notified by LSU that I made the cut for tickets....had my hotel reservations.

Florida, LSU, and Southern Cal were all probably better than Ohio State and Michigan that season.

I think that was the year USC lost to UCLA the last game of the season.

That fake punt call by Meyer was ballsy as shite and one of his most brilliant calls.

Don’t think we would have made it but after seeing how UF destroyed Ohio State that year I think we could have pulled it off too. McFadden should have won that Heisman over Troy Smith.

We did lose to Bielema’s Wisconsin in the bowl game though so not sure. That was always Nutt’s problem, somehow only scored 14 points in that game with that backfield and lost even though we held Wisconsin to -3 yards rushing.

During that fumble, Tuna looked about like a romanian kicker with the ball instead of a once in a generation, best ever, quarterback that was gonna beat LSU's tail and win alabama 7 championships in 3 years.

That fumble and his int won the game for LSU since the bama melt brigade aren't coping well with saying that LSU beat them....."they beat themselves".

Even though LSU went on to smash another once in a generation, best ever qb again in the CFP and go 15-0 and do it from the SEC......anything to avoid admitting that it was the best team ever.

so garo made it to the pic. It was a big, big game, if you remember that fumble. He shrank, much like tuna did.

Southern Cal *was* better than Michigan that year. The two teams played in the Rose Bowl and the Trojans waxed them by the score of 32-18.
