Anyone know why?

Hot take, Bo "running over" Boz is one of the most overrated moments in sports history.

Come on man, I love Bo like everyone else but that play happens in virtually every game every week. Ball carrier with forward momentum meets defender moving laterally near the goal line and carries him in.

He didn't even run him over, he got tackled but fell forward.

The context makes it "a play", but RandySavage is right - its an overhyped "play". Some people bill that as one of the most memorable RB moments in NFL history when in reality its as he just described it: runner moving completely north/south collides with a tackler moving laterally. Virtually every starting sized RB (ie: I'm not referring to a guy like Onterrio McCalebb) is going to win that collision.

The reason why I know its an overrated play is this: I was too young to actually witness it live. When I learned about that play (because its so talked about) I obviously had to see it for myself. My reaction to actually seeing it with my own eyes was more "thats it?" as opposed to "WOW!". Context makes it a cool moment, but I think one would be lying to themselves if they think its an "all-time" moment.

Let’s go to the tape:

Looks like Boz was in good position to make the tackle, hit him straight up, and Bo carried him in to the endzone.

As I recall it was more impressive live, though.

I mean Bo landed on his butt and Boz on his stomach, that's not how it works when you truck somebody.

Its impossible for a defender to hit a runner from that angle and make him go straight backwards, which is what it would have taken for him to actually prevent him from crossing the goal line. As you can clearly see - he does in fact knock him down, but the momentum is simply too much and Bo easily falls into the endzone.

Boz hit him too high on the play (probably because he was coming in laterally) but even if he hit him low, its still an easy fall forward for a touchdown. There is no way to push a 230 pound running back backwards from that angle.

Who really gives a frick and I don’t disagree with you, but who gives a frick.

Who really dwells on that play anyways? I haven’t even seen it or heard it talked about for several years if I had to answer that question.

Wasn’t it the smack Boz talked before going in that added juice to that play anyhow? I can’t remember.

It's not like I've been dwelling on it and brought it up, it was mentioned on a message board so I made a comment. Anything to distract from the infuriating process of following the election coverage right now.

As I remember Boz talked a ton of smack about Bo leading up to the game, that's what made it impressive
