Anyway, as an AU fan, that is the way I like it. I like the uneducated masses and vast majority of the redneck population of the state pulling for the "Tahhdd" and saying "Rawl Tahhdd" because they simply don't know any better and have probably never set foot in AU or any other university.

This elitist attitude shows why AU will forever be behind Alabama when it comes to fan support from this state. Absolutely disgusting.

Nope. Thank you for asking, but AU is happy being AU with all the Bubbagumps pledging loyalty (and their tooth) to the "mity tahhdd".

It takes a surprising amount of ignorance to stereotype a state of 4 million people. I assure you that Alabama fans and Auburn fans are cut from the same mold, the majority of them both born and raised in this state. Which is why it is so disgusting to hear AU fans degrade so many people at once.

I'm from alabama, I've had many experiences with "bubbas" of both fan bases, but by and large the vast majority of toothless trash drinks the bear bryant kool aide as opposed to the pat dye flavor.

The number of non college grads and individuals that are often commonly and collectively referred to as rednecks runs at a 4/1 ratio at a bare minumum between Bama and AU within the state. I think it could run as high as 7 or 8/1.

whats also disgusting is the amount of people that purchase crimson colored vehicles to support the tahd. It seems like there are a million and for some reason, it annoys me to no end to see every other cletus in his crimson s10 or ranger cut me off on airport blvd.

You try to put on the AU elitist hat and come off as ignorant and uneducated at the same time.

That makes sense since that's approximately the Bama/Barn fan ratio.

I'm not trying to come off as an elitist or as an AU supporter (i don't know which is worse), I was just pointing out that there are more UA redneck fans. i'm not an english major and don't like to capitlize when i don't have to on the internet so i can see how i would come off as uneducated

Trying to "put on the AU hat" implies that his posting and demeanor was starting to resemble you guys. If you don't understand a post, best to just ignore it. The other guy understood... maybe you should try and keep up.

AU CATFISH, I'm not polling anyone. I associate with the people my age (57) who graduated from AU and they said that during their time at AU they were called the Plainsmen. One even produced a '69 yearbook that definitely states that ya'll were the Plainsmen. FWIW, go to the AU library and look up the old AU yearbooks, then come back to me and give me a link where your school was always called the tigers. .

Auburn Nickname Explanation
Auburn’s nickname is the TIGERS.
Auburn’s battle cry is “WAR EAGLE!”
Through the years, these two Auburn terms have often been used
interchangeably and incorrectly. There are hats and T-shirts with
Auburn War Eagles on them. Even the news media has been known to
refer to an Auburn team as the War Eagles or to an Auburn player as a
War Eagle.
In fact, when the Tigers play a game on the road, there is often an
article written in the local paper wondering why Auburn has three nicknames
– the Auburn Tigers, the Auburn War Eagles and the Auburn
Plainsmen.
To set the record straight, Auburn has only one nickname – the
Auburn Tigers.
“War Eagle” is a battle cry, used by Auburn fans in the same manner
Alabama fans yell “Roll Tide!” and Arkansas fans yell “Sooie Pig!” You
never hear Alabama referred to as the Alabama Roll Tides or Arkansas
as the Arkansas Sooie Pigs, and to call Auburn teams the Auburn War
Eagles would be just as incorrect. The battle cry “War Eagle” should
never have an “s” on the end of it.
The nickname “Tigers” comes from a line in Oliver Goldsmith’s
poem, “The Deserted Village,” published in May 1770, “where crouching
tigers wait their hapless prey…”
The term “Plainsmen” comes from a line in that same Goldsmith
poem, “Sweet Auburn, loveliest (sic) village of the plain…” Since
Auburn athletes were, in the early days, men from the Plains, it was only
natural for newspaper headline writers to shorten that to “Plainsmen.”

It may be confusing to an outsider, but to Auburn people, it is very
simple. That’s why War Eagle VII, Auburn’s golden eagle symbol, is
named Nova!

Old Auburn Programs

Find in the description where Auburn is not called the tigers. Students have been and still are referred to as "plainsmen" but it has never been the Auburn Mascot.

A couple of those descriptions called ya'll the Plainsmen. Either that or you allow the students to play in a game. As far as you citing Arkansas, your logic is stupid. Arkansas' mascot is the razorback or wild pig. SOOOE Pig is what pig farmers use to call the pigs and hogs to feed. Your link just proves that AU has always had multiple mascots. LSU was always just the tigers. If you look up the history, you will see why LSU adopted the Bengal tiger as their mascot. It goes back to the Civil War. Our mascot naming is based on fact. Yours is based on legend. That crap with the Civil War soldier and AU playing and the eagle flying and then dropping dead and people crying war eagle is a legend. When will you guys finally adopt a real mascot? IMO, War Eagle sounds like a good one.
