What was your reaction when LSU hired Pelini?

Interested in other fanbases' perspectives.
At first I was stunned by what seemed like an incomprehensibly bad hire: he hadn't even been coaching in FBS for the last few years, his defenses at Nebraska weren't that good and even at LSU it seemed like he struggled with the few SEC offenses that were creative at the time (Florida spread and Arkansas with their wildcat stuff). But then I let people reassure me by saying he had some success at Nebraska against spread teams. Basically, always go with your gut instinct

Seriously. Indifference.

It is what it is.
I have no control over it.

Thought that he didn't handle being a head coach and DC at the same time and that he would be good as just DC with the amount of talent that we have. Not so much.

Well I'm asking other fans; but you can have opinions over things you don't have control over wtf

Thought he would be a good hire ... still might

I agree, still may be a good hire. Our fan base seems to forget how bad our defense was last years at the beginning. Everybody was scoring points till it came together after about 4 game or so. I will give him a few more games, I see a lot of no huddle to the ball from veterans on this defense that makes me cringe.

I thought it was a good hire at the time.

Decent hire, LSU defense was average last year anyways. Been slipping before Pelini got there, should be a decent scapegoat for O

I was very happy about the hired and it gave missouri a chance to win.

Didn't even know until y'all lost to The Flying Dorkman.
Then I was excited because FauxPelini would have fresh material.
Then I remembered that he sold out years ago and hasn't been funny since.

I thought it was a lazy, comfortable hire that could still be ok because of the recruiting of D talent by O. That may still be the case. Doubted Pelini being away from FBS and DC so long would result in an elite D.

Mine was, "Wasn't he the guy who wouldn't even talk to Joe Burrow when Burrow was 100% sold on playing at Nebraska?"

Surely this is a new question.

Coach O made the purrr-fect hire. Sweetest D in the SEC.
