Makes you wonder why they decided to write a famous tune about TN instead of their own home state.

Jack Daniels is a bourbon.

The downvotes are from the ignorant. Own it downvoters.
Jack Daniels is legally a bourbon that meets or exceeds all if the requirements of a bourbon. They chose to be called a Tennessee Whiskey.

Good thread, solid internet skills- here is your upvote
To your third point, Tennessee's Ayres Hall has had the checkerboard design since 1920. Which is earlier than the thirties. Here is the evidence:
Speaking of thirties, Tennessee is 36-4 vs. Kentucky since 1980

Actually it was written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant
of Georgia, when they checked into room 388
at the Gatlinburg Inn.

Jack Daniels is a bourbon that identifies as a whiskey. Very metro.

Jack Daniels was definitely well ahead of their time by wanting to be called something other than the name given at birth.

Jack Daniels isnt bourbon. it is filtered through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal before aging. Bourbon is filtered through minimal amounts of activated charcoal after aging.

Jack Daniels, by the definition of bourbon by law, could call itself bourbon if it wants to. It doesn’t want to.

Yes it could. It can do what it wants. But you wont see any bourbon running their product through a bunch of charcoal before aging.
Dickel does the same with the sugar maple charcoal iirc

I agree, I’m just saying that by the letter of the law (since there actually is one), it meets the definition.

Understood. Was just trying to point out the fact that there actually is a distinguishing feature between bourbon and Tennessee whiskey.
Also, being a kentuckian, it’s my god given duty to shite on Tennessee and its whisky whenever possible

FWIW, I’ll end this with the fact that I hate JD and Tennessee whiskey. Kentucky is far superior
