I don’t know how anyone really thought it was gonna happen.

This schedule release was just to appease fans.

It’s not happening.

I think it was always a reach that it would start on time. Schools want to see if having students on campus blows up the numbers. We will know by mis September.

Spring football sounds good to me. Crawfish boils while watching.

The cases started dropping and hospitals are seeing a drop in patients, so it makes sense.

You'll never convince me these decisions are being made because of this virus.

I'm honestly not sad after seeing players, coaches and schools show their asses consistently in the past few months. Maybe this is what the sport needs to rein in all the wokeness

Every single one of these major football announcements are due to financial concerns and not the virus. Reporters keep spreading paranoia that UConn or the MAC cancelling will lead to the P5 cancelling when the reality is that the financial concerns are wildly different.

- The P5 conferences are going conference only or +1 because it allows member teams to void rent-a-win games that would be unprofitable without a capacity crowd.

- This, in turn, caused the MAC to cancel fall football because it would be financially devastating to take on the expense of a season without the revenue of 4 big money games.

- UConn canceled football because they are independent and had no one to play. They were already in discussions to potentially disband football before there was a virus.

- The major conferences are looking stronger, more organized, and more prepared for a fall season by the day, while it is the non-P5 that are not looking so good. Reporters need to recognize the difference.

As long as Mond is ineligible for 2021, I don't care.

As far as I am concerned cut anyone who doesn’t want to play and revoke their scholarships. They essentially want to not play and keep scholarships plus hazed pay? Time for a piece of humble pie

Kinda feel sorry for deer and other wildlife this fall. Nothing else to do but hunt in the south now.

They weren't going to cancel/postpone the football season in June or July because if they did then come time for practice and games to start and things were much better then they would have egg on their faces. They were always going to take it down to the wire and see if one or more conferences flinches and make a decision. Well...they are down to the wire and something has to give.

So the P5 conferences work like crazy for conference only season, only a week later to back out...while covid cases decrease. Makes sense

Will they cut Their salaries to help offset the lost revenue?

I’m to the point where I say just have it from the start of February to the end of April. Not sure how that would work with the NFL combine but at least the season is over before the draft, gets you 10 games plus 2 bye weeks. Then just delay the next season until October so players have 5 months of rest.

The best players may not play but it’s better than nothing.

I think the recent “United” movement with players making demands is changing the circumstances and making it more likely that the season gets cancelled.

Dealing with Covid and trying to play is one thing, now dealing with unrest among some players is going to probably cause a lot of Presidents and ADs to say frick it and cancel the season.
