This is not a trolling thing. Both Coaches had the very good fortune of landing incredibly good QB's in their lap that took them to the top of the mountain.

Auburn couldn't recapture the magic on their fans time-table and in just 2 seasons after winning it all he's run out of town.

LSU could have a fall back. They lost so much in key places that I could see them in the 8-9 games this season (of course they could be back on top)...My questions to the LSU fans is will you be more forgiving of the need to rebuild at LSU than Auburn was with Chizik?

Auburn ran a gimmick offense that required a special skill set.

LSU does not run a gimmick offense.

Eta I searched for Gus gifs and ran across this. It’s off topic but I had to share.

Orgeron recruited Burrow.

1/13 shattered Clemson huh? That’s a program that is likely down for the count after LSU delivered a fatal blow

Dabs has had like 3 QBs fall in his lap. That guy has been incredibly lucky.

Ok, so if Orgeron had an “incredibly good quarterback fall into his lap”, why was Burrow so mediocre when he arrived at LSU? Everyone on this board was calling him Average Joe before this season. Orgeron’s hiring ability and commitment to having a top notch offense led to Joe being developed, Chizik inherited a guy who came in and single handedly won the natty immediately. You’re fricking stupid pal

I think Orgeron is a better recruiter than Chiz, so he will probably keep LSU at a higher level, but there could be some fall off this season for sure.

Sept. 5: UT-SAN ANTONIO
Sept. 12: TEXAS*
Sept. 19: at Rice
Sept. 26: OLE MISS
Oct. 3: NICHOLLS STATE
Oct. 10: at Florida*
Oct. 17: at Arkansas
Oct. 24: MISSISSIPPI STATE
Nov. 7: ALABAMA*
Nov. 14: SOUTH CAROLINA
Nov. 21: at Auburn*
Nov. 28: at Texas A&M*

I see 5 games here that could be pretty tough, but I can see them most likely going 3-2 or 2-3 in these games.

Buddy...two years after our NC we experienced the worst season in Auburn’s history. It wasn’t just that we lost, it was the way we lost. Horrible player conduct issues including frightening crimes. Being down 49-0 to multiple opponents before the fourth quarter. Players goofing off and dancing on the sidelines when down by 3-4 touchdowns in the first half. Little to no positivity for the future of the program.

The idea that we just didn’t like that we weren’t winning NCs by 2012 is a terrible and baseless implication.

It’s obvious you really have no clue about Chizik at Auburn, and therefore your Chizik vs Orgeron fails miserably. Get educated and try again son.

Clemson to the SEC would be the quickest fall from grace the game has ever seen.

I think you know the answer to your question. Even though Clemson doesn't have a history of winning, you're at the top now and have expectations as such. Meaning, your fans demand success.

When it's time for a change, teams at the top will recognize it and demand the coach get back to winning or make a change. CGC wasn't thought of very highly and it didn't seem he was ever going to be able to make it back to the top without a Cam Newton. Time will tell with CEO, but I suspect Coach O's recruiting is at a higher level than Coach Chizik's was.

2010 Auburn was an 8–5 team made 14–0 by a star player. 2019 LSU was a 10–3 team made 15–0 by a star player. That's just about where the comparisons end. Ed Orgeron and Gene Chizik are not remotely in the same caliber of coaches. And when O failed, he didn't fold in defeat. He proved he was better than ever at USC, and again at LSU.

Chizik actually got worse 2 years out from the NC, and he wasn’t that great before it

8-5
14-0
8-5
3-9

If he went 3-9 and then 8-5 I thinjnhe Probably would have gotten another year but it was pretty clear he wasn’t a good coach.

O has gon
6-2, 9-4, 10-3 and 15-0
If he has a 9/8 win season next year he’ll definitely survive.

There are very few coaches who can mix in a 3-9 season and not be fired/feeling the heat

We need a forum to house frequently posted topics. Just merge every similarly themed post into its one thread. Let each topic go for a year and then obliterate it.

This would eliminate the same troll topics getting posted over and over on our beloved SEC Rant board... and it should keep immature folks like the OP in check.

Orgeron seems to still have a better staff around him than Chizik did, and is a better recruiter. It’s not practical to expect him to repeat what LSU did last year, but I doubt he’ll have a fall like Chizik did and be 3-9 two seasons after a national title.

Chiz was a terrible program manager. He was fired because of systematic issues and the kiddnapping incident. I do think O got lucky with Joe B and won't repeat last season again, however he is a much better manager of a program than Chiz.

What the frick does this mean? You make it seem like Burrow showed up to practice, knocked on the coach’s door, and asked to tryout.

By this logic, Dabo is very lucky that Deshaun and Lawrence fell into his lap.
