Can you imagine how big Bama would have won if Donta Hightower, who is a better football player than Colt McCoy, wasn’t injured ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconScared.gif)

Can't figure out who we're supposed to troll in this thread

They have never recovered from that and probably never will. Notice today they (and Kirk Bohls, the sip PR guy, who also writes for the Austin newspaper) still opine"what if" over something that happened 10 years ago. If Cart wasn't clobbered in that game, they still would not have won.

That game convinced Mack Brown to change from the spread to pro-style and it didn't work with the personnel they had. So yeah you could say that

Having many, many many Longhorns as friends and family members, I have listened to many, many post-mortems on the Mack Brown regime.
Based on that line of thinking, Bama did not break anything. The Texas loss was just another symptom of the inner weakness of the Mack Brown regime per everyone. He ran pampering, country club program and his players never overachieved with the big exception of Vince Young.
Colt's dad running to the locker room and him sitting out the game was no different than Chris Simms puling himself from the 2001 Big 12 title loss to the Buffs because of a finger injury (and tons of interceptions). Cedric Benson (God rest his soul) broke out in tears on draft night because he didn't want to play for the Bears. The Sooners would roll them to the tune of 50 point drubbings despite not much of a talent gap between the two teams.
That is the crazy thing . . . Texas had a stellar 10 year run but it seemed like an under-achievement given the extreme talent on those Longhorn squads. I do think they should have won more IMO. I would remember them barely crap-arse Iowa State squads despite being loaded with future NFL players an d my cousins all melting down.
Oh well . . .then they went and got Charlie Strong and here we are.

I love how their best case scenario with a 100% healthy Texas vs a 90% healthy Alabama is a 3 point win.

Texas big money donors overreacting to Brown's dip in wins broke Texas. He had earned the right to try and turn it around. Instead their arrogant asses tried to poach Saban behind Brown's back and since they were so full of themselves they didn't anticipate him turning them down. They were left scrambling with no plan B ending up with Charlie Strong who they told to clean house but weren't willing to deal with the fallout that cleaning house does to a team. Now they have a narcissistic jackass who is every bit as entitled as the people who fired Brown running around like he's God's gift to football and is going to implode like a dying star.

Texas is going to be pretty good in 2020. Nobody on here wants to hear that, but it is probably true.

That’s not really hard to do. LSU breaking Miami is more impressive considering what Miami has done compared to Texas

Good lowered Texas fans are still holding onto this. All you have to do is look how Colt did against the other two top 10 defenses (Oklahoma & Nebraska) he played that year and you get a preview of how he would have played against Alabama that night.

Bama fans claiming they’d beat LSU if they had healthy Tua sound like Texas fans with colt McCoy.
Either way, LSU is currently father to both of them.
