2011 Bama is a top 10 team all time

2019 LSU is top 2 with argument for GOAT

I just don’t see the 2011 Bama offense being able to keep pace

Do y’all remember that the greatest President and First Lady in the History of the USA were our guests to witness the Greatest Football Team in History totally dominate the other team.

I still remember the whining about how unfair it was they had to play us again.

That wasn't the unfair part. The unfair part was allowing Saban on at halftime as commentary while LSU is playing in the SEC CG to promote Alabama being in the NC over someone else.

That was shady as frick and our season started at a bar called Shady's

How about an in-depth discussion of this match

Not much to discuss. 2019 LSU would dominate

The fact this has gone 4 pages and its nothing but bama melts tells you all you need to know

You can’t have an in-depth discussion because the topic is utterly ridiculous in every way

Debates like this are always absurd, but not in the way you likely mean. The only real debate is how the team stacks up in relation to the other teams playing at that time, to account for rule changes and common competition.

If the question is, "Would Alabama's 2011 defense have the personnel to stop LSU's 2019 offense?" then the debate is a bit more interesting, but it still doesn't take into account changes in coaching philosophy, training, etc. Heck, a lot of things that makes 2019 LSU's offense so good is probably from studying defenses of the past (like 2011 Alabama) and specifically figuring out ways to counter it. A great offensive scheme comes along, then defensive coordinators figure it out. Then the new scheme, and the new counter.

You couple a right new scheme with the perfect QB for said scheme, and the team will go incredibly far. Like Cam with Gus' scheme in 2010, Joe was the perfect QB for LSU's scheme in 2019. His skill set matched what they were doing perfectly.

If neither team had NO idea what the other was running, and had to stick with basic playbooks? That might make for a much more interesting debate. As it stands, the summary of this thread will be LSU fans claiming 2019 LSU would mop the floor with 2011 Alabama, Alabama fans stating that Joe would spend most of the game picking grass from his facemask, and everyone else rolling their eyes.

Any attempt at a real discussion on the merits of previous great teams turns into a pathetic circle jerk. All that's missing are the Aggie fans to sit patiently with their jars to fill up.

I will say this:

2011 Alabama and 2011 LSU looked like the only teams capable of beating each other that year. No one came close. I don't recall seeing a season where two teams played each other and went 1-1, and everyone else they played got blown out - including an Arkansas team that finished top 5 was, quite possibly, the third best team in the country. I don't know if we will ever see two defenses like that on the field at the same time ever again.

and none of that has a damn thing to do with 11 or 19......yall were beat by Jordan Jefferson.

Now, if you want to try to stay on topic, you can reply. I doubt you are capable.

So LSU's defense had nothing to do with it?

That's like say Joe Burrow only averages 22.5 ppg vs Alabama. It's TECHNICALLY true while also being disingenuous to his growth as a QB. Saying "Jordan Jefferson" beat you while barely breaking 100 combined passing and rushing yards instead of giving credit to LSU's defense is equally dishonest.

Yeah, the NFL talent and overall talent on both Bama and LSU was amazing. Just amazing talent in those game. LSU just did not have a great QB and offensive scheme that year.

but, still true...and a helluva lot more applicable than the 8 years that followed.

That is not what was asked. Was asked who would win Bama 2011 or 2019 LSU . LSU’s didn’t come close to losing a game . I think Bama game was closest game . And Bama scored late in game to get score to 5 . LSU beat 7 top 10 teams this year, you even if you dislike LSU that is unheard of.

Auburn came within 3 of beating LSU, and technically held a lead at one point during the 3rd quarter. Aside from that, yes - the other games were not close.

It depends on how you define "close to losing". If you mean the game ends within 1 score, yes LSU was. If you mean the opposing team had the ball with a chance to win, then no - no one "almost beat" LSU. Both Alabama and Auburn needed to recover their onside kicks. Neither accomplished that.

LSU would kick that arse. 2019 LSU is the best ever...that includes 2011 bama who our 2011 team best in Tuscaloosa btw.

Lots of bayou cats triggered in here over 8 years of beatdowns. My favorite was 29-0 at home.

How about
2011 LSU
VS
2019 LSU

I was at the LSU-State game in 2011. I thought LSU was the best team in the nation that year.

With the exception of Burrow, the 2011 LSU team was better than the 2019 team and they would have destroyed OK St or any other team in a bowl game. They got royally screwed by having to play a team for a second time. A team they beat on their home field.

There was alot of other things that went into 21-0.

Some say Les lost the team before the game.

It wasnt simply lineup and get destroyed by Bama although they did take advantage of the situation to their credit.
