That would be progress. I’m feeling a little optimistic, but still remember the 16-2 start we had last year.

We really need to improve on the close games from last year. We lost 8 games by 1 or 2 runs. That's the difference between 38-18 and 30-26.

We were also swept 4 times last year. Florida, MSU, Vandy, and Georgia. I don't see us getting close to that with the arms this year. We've got 3 really tough road series. @ Arkansas, @TAMU, @ Vandy. Thankfully we get Arkansas pretty early and we're playing better ball than them right now. LSU looks pretty mediocre but I imagine they'll have it somewhat figured out by the time we go over there, and they do have a good pitching staff. We avoid Georgia and Florida and get the Mississippi schools at home.

I'm not saying that we won't get swept at some point, but if we can remain healthy I think those 4 sweeps drops down to 1.

Despite the similar record to this time last year, I'm seeing visible improvement. We have a lot more players batting .285+ in this term (7) and Gentry and Praytor are knocking the cover off the ball. Auerbach is a great leadoff hitter. The youngsters give me some pause though. Diodati has come back down to earth and Jarvis hasn't really hit the ball great to begin with. It's only going to get tougher for those two. Diodati specifically will need to be a serviceable hitter if he's going to remain in the 2 spot

we are going to be in most friday games with our stud PItcher and then the bullpen with viper as the closer. viper appears to be unhittable.

Unless you've just got a really special guy, most freshmen are going to struggle in conference play with the bat. You just hope a guy like Diodati can occasionally run into one.

The guy I'm waiting to heat up is Reeves. He hasn't been too good this year after he really closed well last year and had a nice summer. Hopefully he will get it rolling soon.

Wilson is the young bat to me that shows the a lot of maturity and upside but I don't know where he fits in defensively.

I agree that Prielipp is already really, really good. His velocity from the left side will be something that hitters just aren't use to seeing.

Having said that, I've seen mock drafts that had 8 SEC pitchers going in the first round of the next draft. Prielipp could obviously be a first rounder himself one day, but we'll see some damn good arms this year on Friday nights. Hell, Mizzou has a pitcher that's rated as a top 100 prospect as well, so we'll find out Friday how the bats translate to SEC play

So I paid the subscription for CUSA TV (will get money back after game) and it’s basically a nose bleed view with no audio.

WTF

I’m pretty sure we won the state championship last year.
