Since the BCS started, Oklahoma has made either the BCS title game or Playoffs 8 times. The first one the Sooners made was in 2001 (Orange Bowl), which they won.
So in 20 seasons, they have made 8 post seasons with a potential of winning the national championship (more than any other school).
Despite this, Tennessee - with only one appearance since the inception of the BCS and no playoff appearances - has just as many wins.
Oklahoma is 1-7 in title-impacting post-season appearances.
By contrast, the team with more than one appearance who has done the most with their chances is LSU - who is 4-1 (2-1 in BCS title games, 2-0 in playoff games). LSU is also responsible for two of Oklahoma's losses (Georgia, Alabama and Florida also contribute a loss - meaning that 5 of OU's 7 losses during this stretch are to SEC teams).
However, the Big 12 is just as good as the SEC.

It’s crazy to me that they’ve now gone longer between national titles than they had from 1985-2000.

LSU and Ohio State both knew that getting OU in round 1 was essentially a bye. That's why that #1 seed was so important. OU is not good. They'd be 4th in the SEC west consistently.

Did I read that wrong, or did the Alabama poster leave out 1-9-12? This season has really erased that shitty night! Thank God!

Didn't Bama beat LSU in a title game?

in all seriousness, b12 or no, you have to give OU credit for at least appearing relevant so regularly. Frankly I thought they would trend the same way as Nebraska and they havent. I guess they are close enough to Texas to maintain.

Basically the same as the previous year, except it was the #2 seed that was more coveted - as the #3 seed Notre Dame was WAY weaker than a Mayfield-led Oklahoma squad.

OU would be top 3 year in year out in the SEC-W. In a rebuilding year they’d be fourth consistently.

Fixed. And screw you.
Another Oklahoma trivia fact:
Combined stats in the last two games by the starting SEC QBs (Tua and Burrow):
53-66, 811 yards and 11 TDs (and the backups went a perfect 4-4 for 49 yards).
Starting QB Rating vs OU:
238.52 (Despite being a perfect 4-4, the backups would actually bring DOWN this stat).
If you go back to the third game (Oklahoma vs Georgia), Fromm makes it:
73-95, 1021 yards and 13 TDs (Chubb and Michel did most of the damage in that game)
Oklahoma defense vs SEC Offenses over the last three years (in regulation, just to help OU's stats a LITTLE):
Avg yds per game: 572.7
Avg points per game: 51

So...
Alabama/LSU
Oklahoma?
I'm not sold you would consistently finish above Auburn.

You would be battling A&M for the 4th spot and that is about it. You have to play defense in the SEC-W. Period.

That’s actually fair. I forgot about Auburn. OU would contend the SEC West most years if they remained a consistent national power, unlike the 90s.
If OU was there now, it would be positioning third or fourth. But I’d favor more for third consistently. Auburn can’t put together a consistent run which is why they have only had a couple of back-to-back double-digit win seasons.
