I see one pass on first down in the first half. Don't have a dog in this fight, but that's what I see.
Edit: wrong, I was just looking at the first 1st down in the series.

I'm thinking we'll see Oklahoma style play calling. Whether we get Mayfield/Murray at QB or Hurts we don't know. But with our defense I see us in the playoff if the QB works.

Nothing I said was incorrect and I linked all the play by plays from UF,A&M and AU
I'm glad we're making a change hopefully for the best but the out and out idiocy of the "stacking the box" or "run, run, pass punt argument was simply a fallicy but it always makes for good message board venting.
And no, the run, run, pass, punt argument is not a fallacy.
All but one of the 1st down passes in the first half came from 2 possessions, and 2 of which resulted in TD's.
All 6 of our first half punts were on possessions that started with a run. And 4 of those were 3 and outs. And 3 of them were run, run, pass.
The fact that we scored on 2 of the plays where all but one of the 1st down passes came from makes my argument even better, for christ sake.
Meanwhile, 6 out of 7 possessions we ran to open the possession resulted in a punt.
I mean holy hell, there were 5 run, run, pass possessions that resulted in a punt in this game, and 8 possessions that opened with a run that resulted in a 3 and out.
But you don't see this as an indication of a problem?
GTFO

Right now it’s unknown. But I think that’s to our advantage.

Now look at the next 6. We open with a run on all of them.
We go 3 and out on 4 of those 6.
We pass on 1st down only on 2 possessions with extended drives.
That first half has FIVE 3 and outs, all of which we start with a run.
But you don't think that's an issue or predictable?
Yeah, that's stupid.

So your premise is that the very first play of a drive determined the outcome of that drive.
And your premise is based upon a 2 choice option?
So our first half 7 play touchdown drive starting against Auburn with a run is an anomaly and that we should pass on the first play of the drive more often?
You are willing to ignore the other 52 plays in the game solely for the first play to key off a drive.
And you are criticizing someone else?

ran 7 times on 1st down
See it yet?
Or are you still going to suggest this is a fallacy because if you ignore possessions and just tally up all plays, it makes your case?

I think both our 1st half TD drives against Auburn started with runs. Is that bad?

We scored 3 TD's in that game, and in all 3 of those scores we threw on 1st downs.
So yes, I think we should be throwing on 1st down much more.

Our first TD came on an opening 6 yard pass to Cager, a 4 yard run from Herrien, and then a 51 yarder to Blaylock.

LMAO!What?
This ENTIRE discussion involves his play calling on 1st down and predictability.
This is your EXACT qoute

So uhhhhh, we ran on 1st down on 7 out of 8 first half plays vs. Auburn. So I don't know WTF game you're talking about
Really?

wrong.

Im taking your word here and I undoubtedly need to double check
(I mean you don't even know how to read a possession chart) but I was referring to the 1st half only.

What? And 2 possessions that started out in a 1st down run resulted in a TD.
You're talking yourself in circles bro...give up
I never said Coley's offense wasn't an issue but there are obviously other issues that we need to resolve as well and they resulted in what we saw on the field last year.I hated what we did in the 2nd half vs Auburn and it was NEVER part of the argument (of course you threw in there when you realized you we wrong) but there's no doubt Kirby gave those orders after getting a 21 pt lead.

The first TD started with a goddamn pass to Cager.
Only the second TD started with a run.
So it was incorrect. Both of the TD's in the first half were not from runs.

Correct
Jesus Christ, man. You even quoted the goddamn possession up top.
You said you quoted 3 possessions, but you only quoted 2.
And the 2nd possession is a pass to Cager, a run by Herrien, and a bomb to Blaylock for a TD.
Now how about you apologize... or don't and just keep looking like a dickhead.

Why dont you look a little closer at 2nd down.
Tell me what you see.
Is there a take-away on our 2nd down plays?

What? I just proved you wrong about your 1st down idiocy and you want me to "apologize"
2 TD possessions were the result of 1st down runs I just got the sequence wrong but it still doesn't disproves your idiocy

6 3-and-outs and 7 punts on possessions we ran on 2nd down.
1 of our TD's we ran on 2nd down, but we opened with a pass and scored the TD on a pass on 1st down.
Our other 2 TD's we ran on 2nd down, but we also passed on 1st down on both of those, as well as passing on a 2nd down on one of them because it was an extended drive.
Key take-aways? We extend drives and score when we throw the ball on early downs, while we go 3-and-out and punt much more often when we run on early downs.
And I'm pretty sure this is one of the reasons why Coley is out and Kirby hired 3 guys (Luke, Monken, & Faulkner) who have all run offenses that balance out the passing and running, and use the passing to open the run.
